We took a wine tour of the Paolo Leo estate in San Donaci. The visit began with a guided tour of the cellar and concluded with a tasting, both led by the exceptional sommelier Giuseppe, who made the experience both exciting and informative. The organization, hospitality, and atmosphere were impeccable, with attention to children as well. In addition to the wines, high-quality oysters were served. The most memorable moment was the tasting of Mormora, a Metodo Classico Pas Dosé sparkling wine aged for 12 months underwater in Porto Cesareo, with an artistic label decorated with seashells. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend this experience because it will captivate you. Everything was wonderful and appealing, even for those who aren't familiar with the industry. I'd like to thank our guide Giuseppe, who deserves five stars and more. I want to go back, and it's thanks to him.

A couple of weeks ago, while vacationing in Puglia, we had the incredible opportunity to join a wine tour at the Paolo Leo estate in San Donaci — and it was truly an unforgettable experience. We kicked off the visit with a guided tour of the winery, which perfectly set the stage for what was to come. The tasting session that followed was beautifully organized, and our guide Giuseppe — a sommelier, wine expert, and genuine enthusiast — was simply outstanding. His deep knowledge of the estate’s history and winemaking process, paired with his engaging storytelling, made the experience come alive. Every detail was thoughtfully curated: from the elegant tasting setup and the warm, professional service to the cozy yet sophisticated ambiance of the tasting room. The hospitality extended even to the little ones, with entertainment thoughtfully arranged for the kids. And the food! We enjoyed the best oysters we’ve ever tasted, perfectly complementing the delicious wines. One of the absolute highlights was tasting Mormora — the estate’s first-ever Metodo Classico Pas Dosé made from two native grape varieties, Verdeca and Maresco. This exceptional sparkling wine is aged for 12 months underwater at a depth of 30 meters beneath the crystal-clear waters of Porto Cesareo. Even the label is a masterpiece, featuring natural, marine-inspired designs adorned with real seashells. For anyone visiting or living in Puglia, this wine tour is an absolute must. And don’t miss the charming wine shop close to the winery, where you can pick up their exquisite wines along with lovely souvenirs and small gifts.

The tasting was wonderfully led by sommelier Giuseppe Perla, who introduced us to the world of wine. He selected four labels and had us finish with a Primitivo passito, all meticulously paired with local products. I appreciated his desire to impart knowledge on how to appreciate and enjoy wine, yet with a light touch.

Originally from an area not far from the beautiful Itria Valley, despite now living in the north, I've always had a strong connection to our region's food and wine culture. For this reason, visiting the Paololeo winery was a particularly meaningful experience. From the first moment, the welcome was impeccable: warm, professional, and authentic. The tour, led by Giuseppe, was engaging and well-organized. He accompanied us through all stages of winemaking, from grape harvest to transformation, from aging to release, with great clarity and passion. Giuseppe's enthusiasm and expertise made every explanation lively and interesting, instilling in us a sincere love for this craft. The final tasting was the perfect synthesis of all this: elegant, harmonious wines deeply rooted in the land from which they originate. I highly recommend this visit to anyone who wants to rediscover, or experience for the first time, the authenticity and quality of Apulian viticulture.

We did the aperitif tour with our entire Italian-American family (50 people). Everything was perfectly organized, from the winery tour to the tasting. We highly recommend this winery if you're looking for a great tasting experience.

La Locanda del Ristoro

02/11/2025: Excellent. Traditional Apulian cuisine, including some hard-to-find dishes. The staff is cheerful and engaging. The service is excellent. They offered us sorbets, coffees, and liqueurs. The value for money is excellent. The only downside is the noise: the dining room was packed, and many of us were talking loudly. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Apulian cuisine.
21/10/2025: About 5 km from Cisternino and 10 km from the wonderful town of Ostuni, in the heart of beautiful Puglia, in the Casalini area, lies this delightful restaurant, a must-try if you're in the area and especially if you're a true foodie! The cuisine is nothing short of exceptional! The dishes showcase typical inland Apulian cuisine! They're reminiscent of the Sunday meals our grandmothers cooked with so much love and passion (I think that's the highest comparison and compliment one can make). The appetizers offer a wide variety of choices, all exquisite, especially the eggplant parmigiana and the beef stew (absolutely not to be missed!). The first courses are also all delicious, and I especially recommend the orecchiette with turnip tops (exceptional!). The abundance of first courses is a distinctive feature of this restaurant and is truly indescribable (one first course is comparable in quantity to about three main courses at other restaurants). The main courses are also excellent, especially the tripe, so tender it melts in your mouth and cooked to perfection! The ingredients are top-quality, as are the cuts of meat. Add to this the skill and passion for cooking of Mr. Vito (the chef and owner), and the dishes become true poetry for the palate! It's a family-run business, and the owners are extremely kind, friendly, and accommodating to their guests' needs and requests. Table service is fast and efficient. The lady serving is very attentive, friendly, and sociable. The restaurant is rustic yet refined and well-maintained, with paintings on the walls that recall this wonderful region, particularly the Itria Valley. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed, suitable for all ages—children, adults, and seniors. It's popular with groups of foreign tourists, who bring a lot of cheer to the place. Free parking is also very easy to find nearby. Finally, the prices are more than fair. The quality-quantity-price ratio is excellent! It's a restaurant I highly recommend trying. If you go once, you'll definitely return! We, being fortunate to be from Puglia, always return with great pleasure, to the delight of our palates! 🍝😋👍👍👍

La Nuova Acropolis

26/10/2025: Wow! A recommendation from friends has led to a great culinary experience! A welcoming place with a great personality, offering a variety of fried foods and pizzas prepared to the point of enjoying the many pairings offered on the menu. Absolutely worth a try! I would only add a few more unique beers to enhance the vast selection on the menu.
29/09/2025: This is my second visit to this pizzeria in a year, and compared to my first experience, I was a bit disappointed. Even though I had booked more than a month in advance, that evening, when I asked to return the Margherita with mozzarella balls, I was told they were unavailable, so I opted for the bufalina instead. This year's Margherita, however, wasn't particularly impressive. The pizza dough, however, is always excellent.
