Centrally located restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff and excellent food.

The food was great, you could really feel how everything is fresh and handmade!! The waiter named Alex was always smile and took care of us with a lot of patience (and we are not easy customers 🤣) very recommended!!

The schnitzel was tasty but unevenly seasoned. The potato salad seemed poorly blended (the spices came in waves—each bite tasted different). The soups were okay. The spinach ravioli had a very dominant, bland flavor. I found the prices reasonable.

We didn't think the waiters were actually from South Tyrol, but the food tasted great, and that was the main thing. They have a great repertoire of steaks and Southern German specialties. It's located on a bit of a corner. The service was good and they spoke all languages. The evening was a bit quiet due to rain.

We were having lunch in Bolzano and tried this restaurant, a very spacious space spread across several floors. The decor is old-fashioned but charming. The service was very attentive and friendly. We tried the very good beef tartar with warm focaccia, and then the trio of canederli for starters, truly well-made and flavorful. A special mention goes to the delicious chestnut dessert. The wine list is also excellent, with several local selections and various vintages. The price was fair for the quality of the food, highly recommended.

We loved the place. The decor is so typical of a restaurant. The food was excellent, and we loved the goulash soup! We really appreciate the attention of Alex, the waiter who served us, and how kind he was in putting us at a table where our dog would feel comfortable and we could enjoy the restaurant. The person who served us at the beginning didn't treat us the same way, which is a shame...

Ambience & Atmosphere As soon as you enter, you sense that Vögele is more than just a restaurant: The historic wood-paneled rooms, the Biedermeier rooms on the upper floor, the charming "Goethestube," and the covered courtyard lend the restaurant warmth and character. The tables under the arcades are particularly popular in summer. The interior is well-kept, cozy, and stylish without being overly opulent. Ideal for a relaxed meal with friends, a business lunch, or even a family get-together. Food & Drink The menu impresses with an excellent blend of traditional South Tyrolean home cooking and refined, creative influences. Classics such as various dumpling varieties ("Knödelkistl"), Schlutzkrapfen (a kind of dumpling), roasts, and regional vegetables are available, as are seasonal specialties. Particularly noteworthy are the dishes that showcase local ingredients with a high level of quality: for example, a trio of dumplings with side dishes, autumnal compositions with salsify, chestnuts, and mushrooms, or a fine beef fillet. Vögele also shows off its best side with its wines: the selection is broad, high-quality, and perfectly complements the local cuisine. Service & Value The service is usually attentive, warm, and professional. Whether you have a table reservation or walk in spontaneously, you feel welcome. While some guests report peak times when the staff seems a bit overworked, overall the service is perceived as very good. Prices are mid-range: Considering the quality and location, the value for money is more than fair.  Small deductions – but not a dealbreaker • Noise & seating: In some rooms, guests are relatively close together; aisles and walkways allow little distance, which can sometimes lead to a somewhat busy atmosphere.  • Waiting times: At peak times or when the house is full, you may have to wait a little longer for the menu or the food.  • Small deviations from expectations: Some dishes are not always exactly as expected from photos or descriptions; occasionally, a main course was unavailable or the menu was reduced.  ⸻ Conclusion For me, Wirtshaus Vögele is one of the most highly recommended addresses in Bolzano: It combines deep-rooted tradition with high quality – in food, ambiance, and service. Anyone who wants to experience true South Tyrol, not just in a touristy way, but with authenticity and style, will hardly be disappointed here. I would gladly return – and can only recommend that everyone not miss out on this delight.

I've decided to give everything 5 stars even though I didn't eat there. I don't want to penalize the restaurant, but I'd like to point out one thing. I called almost two hours in advance to make a reservation for 8:00 PM and was told it wasn't necessary. I arrived and the restaurant was full. I'm just pointing this out, but I don't want to penalize your page.
