When bad service overshadows good food...
I was at this place a few weeks ago with some friends.
We arrived and asked to leave our coats (it's winter, they're long, and we can't keep them behind the chairs). They replied that there's no cloakroom and we had to keep them ourselves. The result: coats dragging on the floor.
They assigned us to a table where we risked falling down the stairs. We asked to change, since the room was empty, but they said no because it wasn't heated.
We ordered white wine, which arrived and was good.
We ordered red wine, a Primitivo, which wasn't on the wine list. I told the waiter about the new red wine selection, a Jungano—an easy bottle in Campania—and it wasn't there. So I chose a Valpolicella Ripasso Zenato, which was on the list, but that wasn't there either. The owner arrived and suggested a wine, which we confirmed. It took 40 minutes from ordering the first bottle to ordering the last one. We asked the owner again, but he said, "If you don't want it, I won't bring it to you." We were just asking for a little speed, as the white wine and appetizers had already arrived.
We had ordered four appetizers, and one arrived incorrectly because the waitress had misplaced it. We waited another 20 minutes for the correct appetizer.
Between the appetizer and the main course, a large group of people arrived and sat down in the adjacent room. They received their appetizers and bread, and then, finally, our main course arrived. We then asked the waiter for bread, and he replied that it was out of stock (10:23 PM). Later, when the main course arrived at the table in the dining room, they also served bread. I asked the waitress how that was possible, and she replied, "They had saved it for you."
Summary: It's a shame that in a restaurant where the food is objectively good, everything is ruined by terrible service and rude staff. We paid €60 each and for a bill like that, even though the food is top-notch, this McDonald's level of service is unacceptable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal.
We opted for the fish tasting menu, and everything was delicious, from the delicate and fresh crudités to the desserts. The wines offered were truly excellent and perfectly suited our preferences. The service was exceptional and went above and beyond to accommodate our requests. It was a flawless experience, and we wholeheartedly recommend this establishment.

Very nice place with a lovely atmosphere. Varied menu with a choice of meat and fish. Excellent wine list. Friendly staff.

Nice place...the owner, Maurizio, is very friendly. The selection of ingredients is excellent and the food is well-prepared. The only problem is parking in the area.

Wow...what a dining experience 5 courses followed by a wonderful dessert. The former Michelin restaurant still knows its craft. The restaurant is highly recommended

Excellent food, but the service is not up to the place: rudely welcomed, forgotten order and serious challenges in communicating in English (the room was full of English native speakers). That’s a shame cause in a quality place like this, you’d expecte something different. There is plenty of English-proficient young graduates and professionals in Hercolaneum, then why not hiring a couple of them to flank the current staff?

A place that never disappoints. Strengths: the quality of the ingredients, expertly prepared by the chef in ever-new and never-fading combinations, with a wide selection of first and second courses, but without overdoing it. The presentation of the specialties is always meticulous, with impressive plates and glasses. The staff's courtesy and professionalism. The fair quality-price ratio. The wide selection of wines and the perfect pairing suggestions. The location in one of the most historically and beautifully preserved parts of Herculaneum, on the Golden Mile, adjacent to Villa Campolieto and just steps from the excavations. Weaknesses? None, but if I really have to try, I'm not crazy about the cutlery rests 😊.
