Even though I'd already ingested the centerpieces, my stomach demanded dessert, which I wisely skipped due to lack of room. I stumbled upon Caffè Vesuvio and immediately had the "Stendhal Syndrome" of pastry making. I found myself before a display of Campanian artisanal products so vast it made diet seem like an abstract and distant concept. The view was this: Colombe and Pastiere: These weren't just simple cakes; they dominated the counter with such authority that they demanded respect (and an immediate taste). Freshness: Stuff that, if you looked at them too long, you risked seeing them rise even further. The selection: An impressive variety of pure tradition and reinterpretations that would move a diabetic. In short: if you're looking for a place where cholesterol meets artisanal happiness, you've come to the right place. A regenerating stop that reminded me why, in Campania, dessert isn't just a way of finishing a meal, but a way of life.

We stop at this pastry shop for breakfast at least 10 times a year. The owner and staff are always friendly. The products are always fresh and delicious. Dogs are allowed. We stopped here again today, January 1, 2026. The pastries were incredibly fresh: the shortcrust pastry, the walnut braid, and the still-warm cilantro. The prices are always reasonable.

Lots of choice, super pastry shop

As we exited the highway, we stumbled upon this pastry shop and were thrilled. The pastries are incredibly fresh, and the local coffee is exceptional. What's striking, besides the quality of the products, is the impeccable cleanliness of the entire place and the incredibly kind staff. It's become our go-to place for every trip on this route. Highly recommended! Besides all this, bring the lobsters (the large ones) with you; they're a bit pricey, but worth twice as much... ❤️ .

What can I say about these exquisite desserts, just outside the highway toll booth? The kindness and warmth of southern Italy.

This bar is in an excellent location, just off the Caianiello motorway exit... inside you'll find a wide variety of sweet and savoury items.
