Vecchio Granaio In Tropea

We have had some great meals at some really good restaurants in our two weeks in Italy and this place was our run away favourite - we ate here 3 times. Our favourite dishes were the Fileja la Rossa (pasta with tomatoes, onion, olives and capers - perfect) and the Mastru Totu Pizza (topped with tomato, olives, capers, anchovies and burrata (like a cold Mozzarella but better)). Sitting outside in the small square beside the restaurant was a beautiful and peaceful place to eat. The service was brilliant. They were very apologetic that their internet was not working and we had to pay by cash (I am not sure why that would be an issue - I managed to live for 35 years without the Internet). In writing this review I am a bit shocked to see quite a few poor reviews. Hard to understand why, based on our experience this restaurant is brilliant.

The staff were incredibly kind and friendly, even with our little girls. The atmosphere was romantic and quaint, with a lovely outdoor terrace. Superb food featuring fish, octopus, and Tropea red onions. Highly recommended.

Amazing food Great service Would always come back

I don't understand the bad reviews. Our pizzas were excellent, the white wine was excellent, and the Tropea tomato salad was also fantastic. It's good and relatively inexpensive, I think.

All four of us had pasta. All the dishes were delicious. Great atmosphere in the courtyard.

I celebrated my partner's birthday. It was a relaxing and magical evening, in a charming venue in a hidden corner of Tropea. We happened upon it and luckily decided to sit down. Everything was delicious and tasted like home. I felt pampered. I asked them to bring a candle as a surprise, and they were happy to do so. Thank you so much ❤️. Highly recommended.

Excellent outdoor location in the historic center. Fast service. Disappointing dinner: overcooked seafood risotto and tasteless spaghetti with clams, fried cod and grilled vegetables. I won't be returning.

A truly characteristic place, nestled in a truly beautiful square.

Always top notch! I return to Tropea on vacation every year, and dinner at Vecchio Granaio is a regular event for me. The little square is enchanting, romantic, and quaint: it feels like dining in a timeless corner. The dishes are always excellent, prepared with fresh ingredients and with attention to detail, and the staff is welcoming and friendly. I read some of the negative reviews and I really wonder in what spirit they're written: it almost seems like some people enjoy criticizing out of personal frustration, finding flaws that don't exist. The truth is, you eat well here, you feel good, and you pay a fair price. For me, it remains an absolute guarantee: top-notch quality, atmosphere, and hospitality. Highly recommended!
