Pompeii is a must-see for Christians. A mystical atmosphere of contemplation reigns in this place dedicated to the Madonna of Pompeii, commissioned by Bartolo Longo, who was canonized by Pope Leo XIV.

This was a surprise discovery. Never had heard of the important painting of Virgin of Pompeii nor of the beatification of the local activist Bartolo Longo. Visiting the place one year later discovered that he's just been canonised and there will be a big celebration few days later. Cool.

Outside of the Vatican, I believe it to be one of the most beautiful Italian churches I've visited. The architecture is one of a kind. Besides the religious visit, the artwork and frescoes inside are also worth it. The interior and exterior are very well-maintained.

The historical and spiritual center of modern Pompeii....attending Mass is an exhilarating experience...visiting the Sanctuary, its riches, and its works is a beautiful experience!!!

The architecture of this sanctuary is spectacular, and the interior is filled with so much art that it can't be described in photos or words. It's a must-see! Beyond the art, the atmosphere is evocative; you can sense the Christian faith, the repose, and the healing of the soul.
