Trattoria Romano Gaetano In Napoli

We loved this place so much that we went for lunch everyday we were in Napoli. Not only was the food delicious and well priced but the people that run this place were fun, kind and clearly love what they do. The atmosphere was authentic and filled with friendly locals. Whenever we’re fortunate enough to find ourselves back in Napoli, Trattoria Romano Gaetano will be our first stop. Grazie mille.

Visited December 3, 4, and 5, 2025, for lunch with two people. We left a piece of our hearts there, as they say in Naples. We had lunch there three days in a row, which speaks volumes about the quality and deliciousness of the food. But above all, what really struck us was the warm, homey atmosphere. From the very first day, we began to fraternize with the neighborhood residents who regularly frequent this restaurant. I'd like to thank Gaetano, Aniello, and their family and wish them all the best, because it's a memory of Naples that we'll always carry with us. The restaurant, right in front of the Salvator Rosa metro station, is very popular, and since they don't accept reservations, you'll have to wait in line for a coveted table. Believe me, it's worth the wait because the food, and as mentioned, the welcome, are worth it. Homemade cuisine based on the market and Neapolitan classics, including an amazing Genovese, are served on a regular basis. Open only for lunch. Highly recommended.

Excellent cuisine, the food is really good. We went yesterday with friends and I have to say we had a really good time, both for the local and characteristic food and, above all, the great prices. Recommended place.

A trattoria as it should be, without too many frills, excellent food, a choice of three first courses, three second courses, and side dishes, and super-fast service. Frequented by Neapolitans, the space is tiny, with fewer than ten tables, which can lead to a line outside. Highly recommended.

Authentic Neapolitan trattoria, off the beaten track and off the beaten tourist track in the city center. Friendly staff, very good food, and very reasonable prices. It was a wonderful experience, and we'll see you next time.

An inconspicuous gem We needed to bridge the time to check in from our accommodation, so we wandered in here quite by chance. The trattoria is family-owned and operated by the third generation. There are three different menus every day. You can also choose from various antipasti dishes at the counter. If the chef has additional menu suggestions, just trust him and try them 😌 The food was absolutely world-class, with high-quality ingredients and great flavor. And most importantly, we enjoyed the food very much 🫶 Here we found the Italy we were looking for, very traditional and authentic. This is where Neapolitans go to eat 🤫 We ended up eating here three times. Thank you for the great time with you. We'll be back. Thank you all. Oh yes, the price/performance ratio is unbeatable.

A historic trattoria, in the piazza for generations, that maintains its popular, family-run feel, and that alone says it all. A small restaurant with fast service and a very friendly owner (and family), it offers a few dishes, all traditional and all perfectly executed. A well-balanced Genovese, pan-fried anchovies as you'd expect, and a wine selection to match. Worth returning for more than just a single visit. You can try to make a reservation, or wait a bit outside and then eat.
