Trattoria Pizzeria Bar Del Cacciatore In Lecce nei marsi

Truly welcoming, excellent food, courteous service. Must try.

We just returned from a Ferragosto lunch with my husband at Trattoria Il Cacciatore in Lecce dei Marsi. It's a holiday, so the menu was set at €45 per person. We were served a traditional appetizer of really good local cured meats and cheeses. Then there were two first courses: mediocre traditional baked lasagna and fettuccine with porcini mushrooms, which I found inedible because they were so salty. Then there was the mixed roast of mutton, sausages, and lamb, which were really good, and to finish, a Nutella and watermelon sbrodolona, delicious and very sweet. The wines were excellent. Overall, we had a good time, but the first courses were mediocre. The atmosphere was spartan because we ate in a room adjacent to the main restaurant, which was full. A very neglected place that didn't live up to the expectations. Would I go back? I don't think so.

A historic family-run restaurant that has ALWAYS been open in Lecce Nei Marsi, it stands out for its home-style cooking, featuring traditional dishes and no frills. However, the pizza here is truly unique: round, cooked in individual pans, so it's a bit fried underneath. It's definitely a bit heavy, but VERY FLAVORFUL. I recommend the parmigiana with fried eggplant, which is delicious. The desserts are also delicious. The staff is always genuine and friendly, and the service isn't fast, but it's courteous and attentive. It's a regular stop for me when I visit relatives on vacation in Lecce Nei Marsi.
