Trattoria Il Lucano In Roma

This place is just a few paces behind the Pantheon. I visited on a rainy Thursday, mostly just to sit for a bit and wait out the storm. Given its location I’m sure it can get crowded with tourists. When I was there diners at the other two tables were all speaking Italian with Roman accents. A good sign. The “fusilli alla mollica” jumped off the menu and said “order me.” This is classic peasant food, Luciano’s version made with toasted breadcrumbs, walnuts, and anchovies. The fusilli were different than the corkscrews we get in the US. This dish was the second best thing I ate all week. Savory and filling. I also ordered the Melfi salad with beans and boiled egg. Tasty. I looked at the dessert menu but it was all pre-made stuff from Bindi, which is fine but not my vibe. Friendly place with good food!

We came for dinner and all the food was good and great value. The tiramisu was the best I've ever had. We will definitely move.

Okay! So we stumbled upon this place as it was near our hotel, and then we found ourselves coming back over and over and over again. It was truly SO good, and SO delish. The guys in the front were such a good time, and always so lovely with our large family, including my 1 year old. Would highly recommend the arrabbiata pasta - so delish!
