Trattoria Il Grillo In Pitigliano

Over Valentine's weekend, the agriturismo I stayed at highly recommended this restaurant. And thankfully so, I'd say. Exquisite food, fast service, and a fantastic price for the quality of the food. The owner is friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended.

We journeyed two hours from Assisi to reach this hidden gem, and the experience was worth every kilometer. Pitgliano, the town itself, is an absolute spell rising from the rock. And the food here? Pure art on a plate. The kitchen at Trattoria Il Grillo treats food as storytelling. The Cinta Senese, a traditional Tuscan specialty, prepared in a pistachio crust with fig sauce and caramelized spring onions, was an unexpected symphony of texture and taste, both rustic and refined. The tortelli with ricotta and spinach in meat sauce was a masterclass in comfort. And then there was another pasta, its name escapes me, with crispy cabbage, the kind of dish that makes you slow down to savor every bite. Even the house wine was a delight and perfectly matched to the meal. Just for having a meal here, it’s worth the drive. We’ll certainly be back to explore more of the menu.

Excellent restaurant if you visit Pitigliano

The atmosphere was both intimate and familiar. High-quality ingredients, sublime combinations, and plating. Gabriele served us with extreme care and kindness, offering the best advice. The paccheri with lamb white sauce was amazing, the beef tagliata cooked rare enough to be cut with a fork, and the Torta Papalina was addictively soft. A perfect lunch, with excellent quality, professionalism, and a very harmonious atmosphere. Congratulations, eating well and spending little isn't at all easy.

Excellent food, more than fair prices, and the waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. All this in a scenic spot in beautiful Pitigliano.

Highly recommended. The restaurant faces the aqueduct, and the interior is charming, quaint, and welcoming, just like the owners. Local dishes are well-executed, full of flavor and history. So good that when one of our daughters asked for a second helping of the ravioli, the owner and the kitchen staff jumped with joy and in disbelief, because the dish was so generous. It's a shame we weren't able to eat inside the grotto. We said goodbye.
