Trattoria Gargino In Re

The restaurant is located on the road that connects the train station to the village of Re in Val Vigezzo. We had a lovely lunch on a rainy day. The staff were friendly, and the polenta with mushrooms was excellent.

A place discovered by chance during a mountain getaway between Locarno and Domodossola. In addition to exploring the village with its impressive sanctuary, it was a culinary discovery that was unanimously appreciated by our six guests, including some young people who can sometimes be picky eaters. Amazing lasagna, delicious trout, and exceptional venison stew.

We stumbled upon this place by chance, having actually planned to eat somewhere else in town. A hidden gem! Great dishes, the menu isn't too long. The whole place was packed with locals, always a good sign. We had a very good lunch here for 120€ for six people (3 E, 3 K). Update August 2025: The a la carte menu is still worth it if you like local specialties; the main courses are good. Special requests for children (plain pasta with butter) or even the side salad aren't worth the price.

Ristorante locale piuttosto datato, ma caratteristico. Gestione un po' in affanno con il locale pieno, un po' sbrigativa al limite della maleducazione coi clienti. Peccato perché il cibo è buono e tipico vigezzino. Prezzi alti considerando il servizio e il locale. Lo consiglio? Solo se avete tanta pazienza.
