Local produce, cooked with passion.
05/11/2024: SantoPalato in Casteggio, among the picturesque hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, is a restaurant that combines local culinary tradition with a touch of modernity and creativity. Opened in 2014, the restaurant was founded by Chef Massimiliano Farina, who offers cuisine that respects the seasonality of the products, mainly coming from the local area and neighboring regions. Among the main dishes that have made the restaurant famous are the pork ribs cooked sous vide, slowly and at low temperatures for over 15 hours, or the whole wheat tagliolini with walnuts and goat's blue cheese sauce.
The environment of SantoPalato is informal but elegant, very bright and pleasant. The service is courteous and helpful, and Chef Farina himself takes the time to explain the dishes comprehensively, conveying his passion and culinary knowledge.
The menu of the day was inspired by the autumnal notes of this period, with a strong presence of ingredients such as pumpkin and mushrooms, but there was no shortage of more original offerings such as eel lacquered in the oven in "Japanese" style, or braised deer. We let ourselves be tempted by the excellent “Maialino tonnato” appetizers, the “Pumpkin with porcini mushrooms and almonds” and the “Rice with pumpkin, amaretti and mustard”, really good. To conclude with an excellent dessert.
The price is more than honest, commensurate with the quality of the service and dishes.
An excellent experience, with a quality and originality of the dishes that will not leave you indifferent. The combination of local products in a modern and original way, together with the courtesy of the staff, makes this restaurant a place not to be missed for anyone who loves good food.
