Four of us had lunch here for one of our friends' birthday, since we were in Olevano. First of all, eating under the shade of the beautiful carob pergola was a delight. The welcome is simple and friendly, and the service is efficient and discreet, just the way I like it. Don't miss the ricotta ravioli, truly excellent both with tomato and with butter and sage. The mutton cacciatore was excellent, tender and delicate. The tripe and sausages were also delicious. For dessert, the tiramisu was excellent. The house wine was also excellent. I'll be back and highly recommend it.

…in Rome it's become impossible to get an electronic ID card, so I look in the province and get an appointment in Olevano Romano, 80km from home.
Okay, I'll take the opportunity to go to Sora Maria and Arcangelo for lunch.
After getting the card, in 5 minutes, I start wandering through the village's uphill and downhill alleys. Then, exhausted from the climbs on the way back, I stop for coffee at a bar where I ask where to buy some good wine.
I know Mr. Mariano, a former school principal and much more, a lovely person who takes me to his house and offers me his bottles. Then I go to Proietti and stock up on Cesanese.
Dalì tries to book, but I'm on vacation. Mrs. Gina from Proietti has me call Carlini and speaks directly with Sora Franca.
How beautiful village life is, so many memories.
I park and go. While I wait for my friends, I stay in the car with the air conditioning on, infernally hot.
We go inside, a pergola. A wisteria welcomes you to a romantic terrace, with kittens and a spartan table setting. Sora Franca's kind and welcoming grandson explains the dishes of the day, including ricotta and spinach ravioli and tomato and basil fettuccine, simple and fantastic. The tomato sauce is a bit slow, but the sauce was sweet, made with fresh seasonal tomatoes.
We order a nice chilled bottle of Malvasia Puntinata di Proietti, to which we add two more, basically one each, but it's very hot and the wine goes down like a dream.
Then we order two main courses to share: Roman-style tripe and mutton chops. They don't have any lamb, and baked potatoes without garlic.
The tripe is always better, mine, too, but it needed to be cooked a lot and the broth wasn't good enough, too bad.
The chops are excellent, succulent, and cooked to perfection, even the potatoes were worth it.
Then our third vegetarian guest arrives: the same first courses, but vegetables as the second course.
A large, unexpected dessert awaits us, a millefeuille with lemon cream and Black cherries, I've never tasted such a delicious puff pastry, it's a sight to behold.
Gentian and coffee, and you're in heaven.
See you next time!!

All very rustic and genuine. Very little choice but it's a positive factor. I recommend going at the end of spring when the wisteria, which dominates the structure, is in bloom.
