A varied appetizer with cured meats, cheeses, and hot dishes, but all served together on a platter with no indication of what they were or what was in the terracotta pans. This is important for first-time visitors.
Everything was good, however, as was the enormous "elephant ear" cutlet, which we shared between two of us. The grilled vegetables were delicious.
Improved service, with minimal interruptions to comment on the dishes, would make this an excellent trattoria.

Strolling through the narrow streets of the center, we stumbled upon this delightful trattoria. There are plenty of tables outside, but during peak hours, it's not exactly pleasant to eat there—too many tourists strolling within 20 cm of your table. Otherwise, the service was quick, the staff friendly, and the traditional dishes were delicious. The fava bean purée with chicory, orecchiette, and bombette were truly delicious!

Very central, intimate, and serves traditional cuisine. I tried the famous bombette (delicious) and a first course of chestnuts, chicory, and salami. Everything was really good. I'd gladly return for such home-made flavors. 🥰

Prices are a bit high for the quantity offered. We weren't satisfied with the cured meats in the appetizers. The table near the kitchen was narrow, and we were often bumped into by passing people.

Finally, a trattoria that hasn't let itself get carried away. Bere Vecchie is an honest place, tucked away in the alleys, where you can breathe in the atmosphere of times gone by without too much drama. I really appreciated that the menu remained faithful to the classics: flavorful orecchiette with ragù (you can taste the sauce has been simmering for a long time) and bombette pasta cooked just right, juicy and not dry. No strange reinterpretations, just well-crafted local cuisine and friendly service. If you're looking for the substance and authentic flavors of Cisternino, you're in luck.

Typical Apulian trattoria, good food, helpful and efficient waiters, nice place. The only downside is the slightly overpriced dishes. In other similar trattorias, you could pay half the price.
