We found it by chance and loved it. Local people, a great atmosphere, and snacks at the bar for customers... a real treat. We'll definitely come back.

Tables and chairs/bar stools are mostly on the narrow alley. Always busy, lots of locals, good atmosphere. Free appetizers come with every order. A clever idea. Good white wine, reasonable prices for the area. Like many Italian bars, there are separate restrooms for men and women, but they're clean.

Bar Moka in Stresa is primarily frequented by locals, offering precisely the convivial atmosphere and ambiance that an open-minded tourist is looking for. While the market square, just a few meters away, is filled with tourists, at Moka you're among the many local regulars, either "in the thick of it" or among your own group, depending on your personal preferences. The service is excellent, very friendly, and makes no distinction between locals and tourists. From the espresso (€1.20 at the bar, if you order outside, add 0.50 cents to the waiter), to the cappuccino, the white wine, the red wine, and the Aperol Spritz, everything is very good and at fair prices. At least in Germany, I'm used to higher prices in comparable surroundings. When the weather's nice, you can sit outside at slightly raised tables, alternatively around a disused wine barrel, or at small tables made of planks bolted to the neighboring wall. Depending on the weather and the position of the sun, you can choose a shady spot or soak up the sun's energy. Alcoholic drinks are accompanied by small platters, which can be generously loaded with cheese and/or sausage, ham, bacon, salami, mortadella, along with white bread and grissini. A free addition that certainly delights the palate. We dined at Moka several times for lunch and dinner in calendar week 40/2025 and always felt at home. Even if you want to enjoy the Aperol without added alcohol (Prosecco or white wine), there's a tasty combination. Moka is already firmly on our plans for our next stay in Stresa!

The staff and owner are very friendly. Extremely fair prices, and antipasti to accompany alcoholic drinks is more common in the afternoon. Great place if you need a break between locals and tourists.
