Famous and long-standing place in Udine, a small location with few seats available, in fact booking is recommended, the possible experience at the sushi bar is interesting, I recommend it, the à la carte proposal is very varied and without too many frills but interesting, you immediately notice the difference with all you can eat especially in the quality of the fish that having personally tasted (in many places) you immediately notice that the sashimi did not require the addition of soy, the same for the nighiri and other pieces that had the right amount of rice and fish which is not a given in other places.
For the hot dishes we tried the light shrimp tempura with the right flavour, the gyoza were also good.
the service was always precise and attentive
I close with the price issue which according to two calculations turns out to be perfectly in line with the clearly superior quality

In person or take out, Tokio Restaurant remains the best Japanese restaurant I have ever been to, with incredible food and very friendly staff. The owner is one of the kindest and nicest people I have ever met. All in all, an experience to repeat whenever you can!

We had lunch at the sushi bar, a pampering and pleasant experience, the service is at the pace of lunch, they don't stuff you but they don't make you wait either, an excellent study of the menu.
If you expect the fish of the all you can eat go somewhere else, because here it's a whole other story, with a price difference that's not even that big, the nigiri don't have shy veils of salmon covering giant balls of rice, on the contrary here there is more fish than rice.
Good besce, and menu curated in its simplicity.

Second time, after being there years ago.
One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been. The thi9tgst I like most is that there's no buffet but you can order from the menu.
I've took a soup, sushi and tuna. Everything was really good.
The service is fast and friendly.
I really suggest it.

By far the best Japanese restaurant in Udine. Very high quality food, professional, quick service and a quiet environment. It is advisable to book well in advance as it is always full and there are few tables.

Finalmente ho provato anche io il Tokio! Me ne avevano parlato molto bene e quindi io e i miei colleghi abbiamo deciso di festeggiare qui giovedì grasso con un bel pranzo. Il posto esteriormente non promette molto, all’interno è un po’buio con tanti tavolini vicini tra loro. Nonostante ciò il ristorante è molto caratteristico, ho apprezzato i posti a sedere che si affacciano sulla cucina dove i cuochi preparano il sushi e il tavolino dove si mangia seduti per terra! Il menù è vario e tipico. Ho ordinato dei ravioli di gamberi al vapore e il mix di 18 pezzi (8 sashimi, 8 maxi,8 nigiri). Prima sono arrivati i ravioli, ottimi! Il ripieno si scioglieva in bocca. Posi è arrivato il mix di sushi …Che dire tutto perfetto, il pesce era proprio bello alla vista, si vedeva che era fresco e il sapore lo confermava! Il salmone sapeva proprio di salmone e i pezzi erano belli cicciotti. Rapporto qualità prezzo più che ottimo e esci fuori che sei sazio e contento (25 euro totale). Non vedo l’ora di ritornarci!

Sono stata spesso a mangiare e di solito mi sono trovata bene. Ultima volta la tempura di sardine mi ha profondamente delusa. Impasto pesante e pieno di farina che faceva un effetto pessimo anche a guardarla. Non mi era mai capitato prima
