The atmosphere is charming and the beer is good. The platters aren't bad either, and they don't skimp on quantity or quality.

People are very friendly. The beer selection is excellent. I love the club sandwiches! Lovely to find somewhat authentic British pub food in Italy. The food is very good, slightly too salty..

We went to one of the few pubs still present in Varese. Waiters in kilts, very ambience, truly efficient in service and advice. Delicious food, rustic enough. Fantastic beer..that's what we went for. All that's missing is live music and that would be the best.

Osteria della Pista dal 1875

22/06/2025: My business associate and I stayed at the Hotel Osteria della Pista in late June. We had a very nice experience! First, they have their own shuttle van service to MXP, which was very handy. We had a day off and their shuttle driver took us to and picked us up from MXP so we could take the express train into Milan. In Milan, we went to the Leonardo da Vinci Museum, which we highly recommend. In addition to being a nice hotel, they have an outstanding restaurant, which we also highly recommend! Everyone was very nice and fluent in English. During the trip, we also explored several restaurants near the hotel and had wonderful meals. Some of the smaller restaurants did not speak much English, but there were no problems, and we had wonderful dishes. Of note was the Sempione Hotel Ristorante, which is owned by the same family as the Osteria della Pista. We found the shuttle van driver to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. Next time we are in town, this will be our go to!

10/06/2025: Fun, beautiful and good... Some of the adjectives that come to mind... Good because there is a wide choice of food and drinks, Beautiful because it has maintained that pub look with some particular "gems", Fun because they have a lot of games... Even the placemats help you play while you wait for your drink
