The Building Hotel In Roma

Spacious but a little dark room, helpful staff, good location.

2 adults, 2 children, 9 and 6 months old; the room is essentially a double with the addition of an uncomfortable and indecent cot for the baby. The mattress is thin, 7 cm at most, and the slats are sagging. The double bed is as hard as the pavement, with no topper, which is a plus in a 4-star hotel. The plastic bottles were half the size. There's no way to heat a bottle or baby food; they don't have a microwave. The bathroom is gloomy and dark, but very large. The rooms are quiet, clean, but a little worn. The breakfast is plentiful and excellent. The location is strategic and safe, near ministries and embassies. Otherwise, 3 stars are sufficient; 4 stars are far from enough.

I stayed at this hotel with a bunch of girlfriends and we had such a great experience. The rooms were quiet and comfortable. The location was great, quiet and convenient. And the spa… WONDERFUL! Actually I have to say it’s a bit of a hidden gem. It certainly set a new standard for our travels, we all agreed we always need a spa day/evening wherever we travel the first day we land. The building itself is interesting bc of its history- it was formerly a Christian school I believe. So the spa was formerly the dinning hall and the cafe space/ bar was a sanctuary. All this to say it’s interesting architecturally. Not in a marketing scheme kinda way. And best of all, the service. We decided very last minute to get a car to our next stop in positano instead of taking a train (I didn’t feel 100 to take a train). They organized it all. It was pretty amazing. I think the service is genuine and truly kind.

Really disappointed, mainly due to the fact that the air conditioning in our Junior suite did not work. When we queried this the staff said that they can only alter the temperature from reception. The temperature remained sweltering in our room for the duration of our stay, with little sleep had. When I took this up with the Manager/Supervisor on check out he could not have cared less, disbelieving me and telling me their stats show the temperature was fine. He could have handled my complaint so much better rather than going on the attack. It’s a shame as the Hotel had character with a nice spa. Just let down by the way a genuine complaint is handled by management I don’t consider this Hotel 4 star if no air con is available, as this is vital for guest comfort and a good nights sleep. Charging high prices creates high expectations.
