Testone In Perugia

If you'd like to try the vegan version of the testone, you can, but the selection is limited to vegetables only (peppers, courgettes, and eggplant), and the whole thing is a bit dry. It's a good selection, but I'd add something to give it a bit more flavor. Very fast service and a good location.

Today we visited Perugia and had lunch at Testone... hats off to the food... everything was excellent, so much so that I had seconds... shame about the service being a bit cold...

If you're looking for a quick lunch in the center of Perugia, this is definitely the place to go, especially for its excellent value. If you don't want to sit inside or can't find a seat, you can lean against the steps in front. I tried the vegetarian torta al testo, which was very good. The owner is very kind, and the service is fast.

Not a traditional restaurant, but a cross between a pub, a fast food joint, and a restaurant. The food is excellent, and the service is typical pub fare. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. The atmosphere is unique, small but very welcoming. The staff, however, is always very friendly.

Very charming. Typical food. Very functional service system. You receive a placemat with the menu printed on it. You place your order at the counter upon entry, and then you're served at your table. Very reasonable prices. The inside tables are also practical, making the most of the limited space available.

Great place to taste the umbrian speciality street food "torta al testo".

Excellent cake, friendly and helpful service. It's a shame when we were there not all the dishes were available due to technical problems, but excellent anyway, I'll be back!

We stumbled upon this place by chance and, frankly, were pleasantly surprised. Arriving in Perugia to explore the city, we decided to have lunch here, intrigued by the famous "Torta al Testo." After explaining how it's prepared, we were assigned a table upon ordering and opted for a Vegetarian Torta al Testo (with zucchini, pecorino cheese, and eggplant) and a plate of grilled sausages with baked potatoes and torta al testo to accompany it. We sat down at the table, and the food arrived within 5-10 minutes of ordering (as specified on their website, there is no table service charge, let alone a cover charge). Leonardo made us feel truly at home and warmly welcomed us into the restaurant! He's a very kind, approachable guy, and always available for a chat! Fantastic products; we were truly amazed by the taste and quality. If you're thinking of grabbing something traditional while wandering around the city center, you definitely have to eat here!

If you're in Perugia and want a really good quick bite, stop by Testone to try the local specialties, especially the torta al testo, cooked simply and according to ancient tradition (my wife liked it better than I did, but it's a matter of taste). The meat is spectacular, especially the mixed roasts, which have a truly excellent flavor, and the meatballs in tomato sauce. The cacio e pepe pasta dish was also delicious. We digested everything and have happily returned several times. The staff are all young and very friendly. The place isn't huge, but it's very unique, especially because it's decorated with so much recycled stuff. It's worth a visit.
