Taverna49 In Pompei

The food was delicious from starters to desserts. We took a platter of mixed cured meats, a cut of meat, a pizza with mushrooms and finally a single-portion cheesecake and a crème brûlé. I booked with The Fork but they don't offer discounts on drinks or pizzas and we only got €22 discount but it was a fantastic experience. They make you sit down with the breadsticks ready at the table, they bring you the perfect pairing for each dish and, as often in taverns, the staff are very friendly. I loved the typical classic space of a tavern, except that, the only flaw, it was terribly hot. Their main dishes are grilled meat and now it's the height of summer so I understand that it's hot but there was neither ventilation nor air conditioning, which left me feeling a little suffocated all the time. The small but well-kept bathroom, even with a small mechanism in case of emergency.

Tavern 49: Now a guarantee, I have been there several times at different times of the year and I have never regretted it. The restaurant offers a menu with various products but at the same time does not lose its tradition. Known at the time thanks to the application The Fork. An extra star for the helpfulness and friendliness of the staff.

Unfortunately I was not fully satisfied. In my opinion the prices are excessively high, and are not fully in line with the quality of the food. In fact, I wasn't able to understand well whether it was a tavern or a gourmet restaurant. Chicken breast arrived for my son (€10) After cutting some pieces we realized that the center was raw, it was taken back to the kitchen and they brought back the same cut one. In my opinion, I think if I pay a lot to expect the chicken breast to be made all over again, not for the cut pieces to be refried. The pizza wasn't bad, the service was also (€2.5 cover charge per person). I repeat, "in my opinion" given the location (furnished like a tavern) and the treatment, the prices should be revised a little. When we had dinner there wasn't much of a crowd. For parking, there is space along the road. The opinion is completely personal. Overall the restaurant is recommended, the waiters are very kind, the service was also very fast.

Abbiamo mangiato solo la pizza e la qualità è nella media: l'impasto è un po' più croccante rispetto alle classiche pizze, ma ciò non ha influenzato la qualità del cibo. Discreta anche la scelta delle birre, seppur la Franziskaner alla spina fosse un po' sfiatata. Prezzi un po' più alti della media.

A nice surprise, a place that seems slightly rustic compared to today's standards (but absolutely nice and clean) which, in fact, I consider an advantage: it is a substantial restaurant, which does not reserve any unpleasant surprises for you. Well-studied menu, quality food with a perfect balance of flavours, both in the first courses and in the meat. Professional staff.

I had the opportunity to dine at Taverna 49 with some friends, and I want to share my experience based on current reviews. Food: We ordered 3 cuts of meat with cherry tomatoes and rocket, but unfortunately they were very tough and inedible. This was a big disadvantage. The red cow steak was good, considering the price. However, it did not achieve excellence. On the other hand, the "tarallo" pizza was a pleasant surprise: really very good. Service: The waiters were very friendly and the service was fast, even on a Saturday night. Accidents: Unfortunately, we found a rubber band inside the potatoes. However, the staff promptly replaced the potatoes and apologized for the inconvenience. In summary, Taverna 49 offers a mixed culinary experience, with some delicious dishes and others less successful. The serve was good, but the rubber band episode could be improved. If you decide to visit it, I recommend you try the “tarallo” pizza!

I tried Taverna 49 and I have to say I was disappointed. The food was not up to expectations, the baked potatoes seemed simply reheated and our friends' cuts were almost inedible 😕. While the cut of meat wasn't bad, the overall experience wasn't satisfactory. I hope they improve soon!
