Frankly, I don't understand all the reviews raving about this place...maybe I'm on the wrong day! I had lunch on a Sunday in January. I was in the Bagnara area, and, drawn by the reviews, I decided to book a table for four for 1 pm for my family. The woman I'm talking to kindly told me yes, but that they open at 12 pm, implying I could also come earlier. We went anyway at 1 pm sharp, and strangely, it was closed! Not being local, I started to suspect I'd made the wrong place, so I called and they told me they were about to open right then: thank goodness I hadn't come earlier! The atmosphere was nice, the staff friendly. We ordered a marinated anchovy appetizer, which was good but nothing special. The first courses, three different ones, had cooking issues. Not only were they not al dente, but the pasta was clearly overcooked, and three out of three of them weren't simply a mistake! The second courses were good, but again, nothing exceptional. The desserts (apple pie) were below expectations, considering I'd read reviews that described them as the best desserts I'd ever tried... who knows! Paying €20 for two slices of soggy cake that looked like it had been made by a novice leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, even more so than the dessert itself. The bottle of wine we chose was good, as were the glasses of sparkling wine we ordered to accompany the desserts, since I was celebrating my 50th birthday. For this very reason, I expected at least a complimentary coffee, but that didn't happen! The price was high, but it was reasonable for what we ordered and there were no surprises compared to the menu.

The legendary Kerkira strikes again and never fades... The food is always delicious. From the expert hands of Mr. Fulvio, the undisputed owner of this historic tavern, truly delicious dishes always emerge. This is why I've continued to frequent it for years, despite the considerable distance from my hometown. I've been frequenting the place for at least 20-25 years, and as far as I'm concerned, it continues to never disappoint. The selection isn't vast, with just a few dishes, but they're expertly cooked and presented (the old saying "better a few, but good ones" still holds true). Everything is top-notch; I'd personally focus on the appetizer selections in particular. However, the absolute highlight is the desserts—there's nothing like them for anyone! I think their AMARETTI and CHOCOLATE SEMIFREDDO, created by the great artist ZIA Rosita, like all their other sweet delights, is not only a masterpiece but, in my opinion (a sweet tooth and modest connoisseur as I am), currently the best dessert in the world (TRY IT AND BELIEVE IT). It's no coincidence that I order at least two at every visit. The wine list is respectable, although not as extensive as it once was, but on this last visit I found a pleasant surprise: one of my favorite wines, an excellent Gewürztraminer from one of the best wineries in Alto Adige. The sommelier and dining room representative, as well as a key member of the Dato family, Maria Luce, was helpful and knowledgeable, in the presence of her new, polite and kind assistant. I would recommend the paper menu, which is MUCH BETTER, and no QR code. I'll end with the only sore point: in my opinion, a major lapse in style that a place of this caliber should not allow. I'm referring to the bill, which was certainly adequate (there are prices to see what you're ordering), but it was incorrectly calculated with an extra charge and pointed out (to err is human). Then, it was recalculated with the correct courses, with many apologies, but later included the cost of two ouzos (a typical Greek liqueur), which in my opinion not only should have been offered in the normal state of affairs, let alone after their error in calculating the bill, even if inadvertent. This is compounded by the fact that the average cost at this place is around 50-60 euros per person, and most of the time with me (as in this case) it comes to around 80-100 per person (which is generally what few people spend here), they must have been more considerate. I think they know me by now, and in my opinion, they should have offered digestifs like the coffees they did. Once upon a time, after a substantial lunch, they would also offer whisky or other spirits. Times have changed, but a customer who spends €200 for two (which, I repeat, regular customers generally don't spend here) in my opinion deserves at least an Ouzo, especially when there's been a mistake, even if unintentionally, and when a generous tip has also been left for the waiter. Then, if the bill comes in at €205.00, in my personal opinion, they should have rounded it up to €200. If a customer is a regular and spends more, they should be treated better and not be thought of as wealthy just because they spend more than other customers. It's not about the five or six euros; they're nothing, but unfortunately, they affect my psyche, and as a professional in the business, you might not expect it. In short, those extra six euros are just a 'shooting in the face', there's nothing I can do about it... a mental deformation. It's the gesture, a matter of tact, the thoughtfulness, not the six euros. I was disappointed and wanted to point it out right away, but the other diner stopped me and asked me not to. Since I've been frequenting the place for years and respect them for what they offer and their always welcome offerings, I couldn't help but express my personal opinion. In any case, my opinion remains unchanged: totally positive, and I hope to return soon. Despite this small lapse, the taverna always maintains a high standard: highly recommended...
