Supra e Sutta In Cardeto

A good half hour from Reggio towards the mountains, the panorama (800 m) is truly impressive. The restaurant itself is spread over three levels, each with its own distinct character. You'll enjoy traditional regional dishes, much of which is produced locally, guaranteeing freshness and exceptional flavor. The owner, family, and staff are extremely friendly and accommodating—you immediately feel at home, far removed from the touristy atmosphere. Several friends recommended the restaurant to me, and every description was definitely an understatement! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Making simplicity and Calabrian tradition into an art is the hardest thing to do, and "supra e sutta" manages it brilliantly. P.S. The lamb sauce for homemade macaroni is a test for everyone; you either know how to make it or you don't, and here it's not just good, it's something more. Thanks.

About 15 km away and about twenty minutes by car from Reggio Calabria, along the road that goes up along the Santagata river, we reach Cardeto, a delightful and characteristic town perched on the peaks of Aspromonte at about 700 meters above sea level, which with the evening lights appears to us like a nativity scene. Mountain aromas and flavors combined with the pleasant breeze that rises from the Fiumara valley. Genuine hospitality and traditions promise. Parking in the square with a few steps we are at the Supra e Sutta restaurant, welcomed by the kind owner and the chef, who put us at ease by welcoming us with kindness and friendliness. We are served with various and abundant appetizers, delicious first and second courses with local products and good wine. The waiters at the tables are willing and available. The interior is welcoming and heated. The cuisine was excellent and we definitely appreciated it and the quality/price ratio was excellent. The service is excellent, as is the varied, rustic cuisine. It's hard to leave unsatisfied with what you've eaten, and all of it is reasonably priced. The location is interesting; I recommend dining upstairs.
