What a wonderful experience our visit to Forte Falcone in Portoferraio was. If you are looking for the most beautiful view of the city and the sea, this is the place to be. ​💰 Accessibility & Price ​We visited the fort with our family. We paid €8 per person for the adults, which is a very reasonable price for what you get in return. A big plus: our two children were allowed in for free! That makes it a very affordable outing for families. ​ ​🥾 The walk and the fort ​Put on good shoes, because you will be on your way for a while. The walk up and along the walls takes about 40 minutes. It is a nice, active way to discover the architecture of the fort. You really walk through history. The paths are easy to walk on, but due to the elevation changes you will feel it in your calves a bit – but believe me, it is worth every step. ​🖼️ Museum & Napoleon ​Inside the fort, you will also find an interesting museum section. It is very impressive to see the rooms and learn more about the history of the island. There are various objects and exhibits linked to the time of Napoleon, which gives the visit just that little bit of extra depth. ​​📸 The View (The absolute highlight!) ​​As soon as you stand on the highest points of the walls, you are treated to an incredible panoramic view. ​​You look directly out onto Forte Stella, which makes for beautiful photos. ​​The azure sea contrasts beautifully with the red roofs of Portoferraio. ​​In the distance, you can see countless villages nestled in the hills of Elba. ​​Conclusion: Forte Falcone is an absolute must-see. Whether you come for the history, the Napoleon connection, or purely for the view: you will not be disappointed. A top outing for the whole family! Tip: Bring plenty of water, especially on sunny days, as there is little shade on the walls.

We began our tour at the Medici Fortresses and ended at Forte Falcone (from bottom to top). It was a pleasant and relaxing visit. The view is beautiful and evocative.

A charming and historic city, with a lively harbor where you can admire gigantic and precious yachts. The historic center is full of quaint streets, colorful buildings, and reminders of Napoleon's history, who once had his residence here. Ideal for strolls amidst culture, shopping, and traditional restaurants, with the crystal-clear sea always within sight. The nearby beaches add a touch of relaxation to an already fascinating visit. An unmissable experience!
