Sun Bay In

My review is only for the beach service I used. Very beautiful sea with slightly cleaner water on the right of the bay, tidy and clean beach with very friendly and efficient staff. In high season an umbrella and two sunbeds cost €40 for the whole day and €27 from 1.30 pm onwards; I find the price a little expensive given that the showers are paid (50 cents) and that at 6.30 pm it is necessary to vacate the station because the beach closes. Yes, it is possible to stay on the beach as long as you want even after closing but, given the season, it would be appreciable to be able to use the sunbed until late. I saw that they also do dinner service; perhaps leaving people on the beach could be an incentive to make a few more covers at the restaurant.

I spent my holidays in this campsite, I had a great time, a fabulous sea, functional services and outside there is a shuttle that takes you to Taranto. What can I say, I would go back immediately

For some years I have found a valid solution for the seaside season, taking my dated camper to a small campsite near the sea and the city. The campsite itself does not offer well-organised spaces and practical services such as well-defined pitches, with water and electricity at each location. These shortcomings, however, are not to be attributed to the various managements that have followed one another, but to a lack of interest on the part of the owners. A few years ago the Sunbay was well managed from the point of view of cleanliness and seriousness, the clientele was selected among quiet campers, no annoying noises were allowed, the staff used scooters to move around, and a little man collected, with long pliers, the pine cones that fell from the trees every day. Even the anthills were kept under control. On the other hand, the space reserved for camping on the beach was very limited. Since 2023, a friendly visitor to the facility has launched herself into the courageous undertaking of management. Some habits have changed to offer users more beach, more opportunities for fun, more sociability, thus encouraging frequenters to get together. One gap is the difficulty in supplying the drinking water reserve for the residents. Last year the only fountain in the center of the tree-lined area had a very unpleasant tap with a button that had to be held down. This year at least it is possible to use an automatic coupling and open. The celebrations are frequent on the eve of August the host, Mrs. Crisitina offered an exciting evening worthy of accredited structures. We were all satisfied and will remember the beautiful evening.

We stayed there in a camper and we had a very good time, some pitches were well shaded, others less so but being on the sea you sleep well, they assign beach umbrellas and deckchairs and it has all the necessary services. We had an excellent dinner in the restaurant overlooking the sea.

I love spending my holidays constantly moving from one campsite to another on all the Italian coasts. I spent 4 nights alone in a tent from July 3, 2024. The campsite, with its management, is part of a complex which also includes a beach establishment and a bar/restaurant/pizzeria with separate management. Not a large campsite with some places overlooking the sea and others in the sun or under a small pine forest. There are no real demarcated pitches and the "crushing" depends on how many people there are. Cars in the sun in a common car park. The beach, about 100 meters long and 8 meters wide, is sandy with cliffs on both sides and is entirely occupied by the beach umbrellas of the establishment but an umbrella (without sunbeds) is provided for free for each pitch. Transparent and slowly degrading sea. Toilets old but well maintained and clean. Hot showers with the convenience of the classic mixer but the great hassle of coins which last 4 minutes without the possibility, among other things, of suspending the timer by closing the tap which therefore continues to count down the time even when closed. Furthermore, in addition to the hot ones which cost 1 euro, you also pay 50 cents for the cold ones. Last but not least, they are very few: 3 hot and 3 cold for all the men and women of the entire campsite. The sink taps have a timed button. There is no internal market. Very courteous staff, both the owner Cristina, always outgoing and smiling, and her children who are sometimes present to help her. A few ants (despite staying away from the anthills), few flies, no wasps, a few mosquitoes especially in the bathrooms. By bicycle you can go around and go out but there is nothing special in the vicinity of the campsite without taking the most dangerous roads and perhaps arriving in Taranto which is about ten kilometers away. In conclusion, I recommend this campsite to those who want to enjoy the beach and the sea, even with children.
