Nice location right on the seafront promenade with a view of Trieste. We only had a delicious Engel beer 🍻. Parking is available right on the curb in front of the restaurant. We were here at the end of July on a weekday evening around 6:30 p.m., and it was quiet and relaxed.

Trieste was a revelatory experience for me. The fourth largest city of the former monarchy, an architectural replica of Budapest, and a completely different city... And the magic of the ferry floating on the waters of the Canale Grande, a worthy conclusion to the Italian culinary excursion.

Ristorante Taverna Al Canevon

22/10/2025: A truly romantic place. The lady seemed like a German woman to me, cold and not laughing. Italians are always nice, but we were here in mid-October. Maybe tired after the summer? The day before, we ate at a nearby restaurant because it was cheaper, and I have to say we ate better the day before. The pasta ragu seemed lacking in salt, as did the tomato and vegetable sauce. I don't think we'll be back.
24/09/2025: Update 2025: After eating here for many years, this time the service was so unwilling and without a smile that we (there were four of us this time) wondered what was causing so much grumpiness. OMG, rolling eyes, no drinks served for a long time, probably a mistake by the chef who didn't devein the shrimp, and then a harsh tone when paying. A few streets away, we had friendly service and excellent food on three evenings. So we know where they won't want to see us again in the future, what a pity for this lovely restaurant! Previous reviews... we've liked it here for years and have always been satisfied. Lovely courtyard in a narrow alley.

04/03/2026: The large portion of fried seafood was quite delicious.
25/01/2026: Small size is 10 euros. The portion is bigger than I thought. It was raining and there were no people, so the atmosphere made it even more delicious. The staff was also friendly. You should definitely try it.
