Steger Alm In Predoi

Excellent location, small but welcoming structure. Few things done quite well, there are certainly mountain huts with better quality food. However friendly managers. The climb is constant but doable in 1 hour and a half. However, it is absurd to have to make the descent with skiers and especially sleds who go down regardless of the ban at the beginning of the climb. With all the slopes there are, it is absurd and serious that no one does anything, disrupting those who want to enjoy the walk. The bravado with which the sledders ask for the track is embarrassing, an attitude that Italians, South Tyroleans and foreigners have.

We parked at the Predoi sports field and once we crossed the river in front we took the carriage road that goes up. Shortly after, the carriage road becomes a forest road that goes up for about 4km with packed snow (also used as a sled run). Height difference of around 500m but when you get up the effort is completely rewarded. The hut is not very big but the managers are very friendly. The food is good even if the choice is limited, they have typical local dishes. Great walk!!!

A very special place... On the one hand scenic, on the other hand the senior host, Erich Steger, warm, sublime... unpacks his tremors and we make music together. In addition, the hut owner, Oswald, is totally friendly, uncomplicated, cheerful. A very special afternoon spent there.
