As often happens, good things end too soon. If you want to eat genuine, good quality rustic food from the Piedmontese tradition, this is the right place.

A lovely stop on a hike from Dronero. The staff was courteous and helpful despite the difficulties we encountered due to the intermittent light. I really liked the decor and the small details scattered throughout. Also useful as an information point near Berardi Castle.

Trattoria Antica Torre

01/10/2025: General Impression The Trattoria Antica Torre is picturesquely located at Via Torino 71, directly below the medieval Torre ("tower") of Barbaresco. The location alone—in a small village center, surrounded by vineyards, with a relaxed atmosphere—makes you want to linger. The ambiance is warm, informal, not overly pretentious, but maintained with attention to detail. ⸻ Food & Drink What's Particularly Good • Tradition & Quality: The cuisine is deeply rooted in Piedmontese and Langhe traditions. Classics such as tajarin (homemade), ravioli al plin, vitello tonnato, and various meat dishes (e.g., Fassona) are present and are usually prepared with great care. • Homemade Pasta: The tajarin, which is still made here in the traditional way: with lots of eggs, cut by hand, is particularly praised. For many guests, they are considered one of the highlights of the menu. • Regional selection: Locally sourced ingredients, seasonal produce, a good wine list with many local wines, especially wines from the Barbaresco area. Minor criticisms • Price level: Some guests find the prices rather high – especially in relation to the simplicity of some dishes or portions. If you're consciously accustomed to a higher price level, this is less of a concern. • Service & Waiting Times: During peak times (e.g., weekends, lunchtimes, sunny days), guests report that the staff is friendly and attentive, but that there can be waits – whether for service or for table service if you arrive spontaneously. • Menu scope: Those looking for particularly unusual, very modern, or experimental dishes will find less here. The menu is strongly traditional and rather manageable, but with a focus on quality. ⸻ Atmosphere & Service • The restaurant is family-run, and you can feel it – you're not just a "guest," but rather a visitor in a house with a long gastronomic history. • There are two dining rooms, and in the summer, a beautifully landscaped outdoor area ("dehor"), which is particularly charming. • The service overall is often described as friendly and warm. There are minor shortcomings, especially when guests arrive unexpectedly or it's very busy. ⸻ Value for Money I think the value for money is in the upper mid-range. You're happy to pay a little more for the quality of the ingredients used, the preparation, the location, and the service. However, if you compare strictly (e.g., with competitors in the region), you might think that some dishes are a bit above what you'd expect. ⸻ Conclusion To sum it all up: Trattoria Antica Torre is a very good choice in Barbaresco, especially if you're looking for authenticity, artisanal cuisine, and local flair. For lovers of Piedmontese cuisine, it offers many highlights – all in a dreamlike setting. If you eat there, I would recommend: • making reservations as early as possible, especially on weekends or when the weather is good. • budgeting a bit more if you choose regional wine – it's often excellent, but not cheap. • being open to traditional cuisine, as innovation isn't the focus here.
10/09/2025: THE best tomatoes I have ever eaten! Also it was great to finally eat some salad - all other food was also delicious. Wine was - of course - so good. Flawless service and beautiful outside dining area next to the famous Barbaresco tower.

Pizzeria Del corso

12/10/2025: We had a delicious meal: fish pizza and a white truffle pizza. We hadn't booked anything, but we were still able to be seated. It's a small place with lots of locals. The person who initially greeted us didn't speak English, but the waitress did a fantastic job; she spoke good English and was very service-oriented. Overall, a wonderful experience, and many thanks to the waitress.
19/07/2025: It's been a while since I've been there, but I can confirm that I've always been satisfied with their pizzas and courtesy.
