A truly welcoming and pleasant place, with attentive and impeccable service. The cuisine is refined, with refined flavors and a keen attention to local tradition, evident in every dish. The location is meticulously designed and contributes to a unique atmosphere: nestled in a timeless village, it feels like a journey back in time. An elegant and surprising overall experience, with dishes featuring interesting and well-balanced flavors.

We absolutely loved this restaurant! We booked via WhatsApp at 6:30 pm and were greeted at 8:30 pm with great kindness and a wonderful smile. The warm atmosphere was immediately apparent.
Everything was absolutely delicious from start to finish. The dishes are refined, full of creativity and original flavors, yet still generous. The risotto was simply incredible.
The homemade bread truly deserves a mention: crusty, fragrant, and honestly better than some French bakeries—a very pleasant surprise.
And the desserts… I'll let you discover these little culinary marvels for yourselves, which perfectly complement the meal.
My partner and I had a lovely and memorable evening for our last night in Italy. A timeless moment we won't forget.
Thank you for this wonderful experience; we highly recommend it!

As soon as you step inside, you're transported to a magical atmosphere. We were there for a bachelorette party, and we did the foraging experience with Valentina, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
For dinner, the restaurant is small, intimate, and meticulously designed; it's the perfect place for those who want to escape the hustle and bustle and be lulled by beauty. The watchword here is conscious experimentation. This isn't your typical traditional cuisine: each dish is a small work of art, a perfect balance of local flavors and modern techniques. You can taste the in-depth study of the ingredients behind every course.
We'll definitely be back.

Semi di grano is excellent. Very small reservations are a must. It’s on the lower level of owners home I think. It was our favorite restaurant in Italy. Highly recommended!

A truly delightful discovery in the hills above Lake Como.
We visited Semi di Grano last night and had one of those memorable meals that remind you why travelling off the beaten path is so rewarding.
This tiny restaurant has only around 15 indoor covers, and during the quiet low season it felt wonderfully personal and intimate. Tucked high above Varenna in the hills, it’s the sort of place you’d never find unless someone told you about it….where you need pebbles to guide you back to your car afterwards, or wonder if they’ll accept your credit card for payment.
Dinner began with a simple but elegant amuse-bouche of cabbage drizzled with olive oil and vinaigrette. The first courses were exceptional: a beautiful risotto with blue goat cheese, wild garlic and pollen, and meat ravioli with mountain butter, kefir and liquorice.
For mains we had trout with leeks, black garlic, bread miso and bay leaves, and a superb grilled beef fillet with cocoa, orange and agretti; bold, creative flavours that were perfectly balanced. Portions were generous and every dish clearly prepared with great care.
Dessert was a rich, warm and wonderfully moist carrot cake with cream, the perfect finish.
The highlight of the evening was the warm, thoughtful service from Carlo, who not only guided us through the menu with charm and enthusiasm, but turned out to be the chef as well. We later learned the property originally belonged to his great-great-grandfather and has been lovingly restored into a small home and restaurant.
An unforgettable meal, full of heart and creativity. Our bill came to €121.50 including drinks, which felt exceptional value for such quality.
If you’re anywhere near Varenna and enjoy intimate, chef-driven dining, this hidden gem is absolutely worth seeking out.

The menu is fairly limited, with two options: one meat-based and one seafood-based. The dishes are modernist, heavily focusing on niche and unusual flavors. Overall, they're pleasant and well-received, but not good enough to make me want to return. The desserts, too, are the same. The wine list is quite extensive and diverse, but a bit confusing; bottles are offered at double the price: one for the restaurant and one for the cellar. The margins are also quite significant, in the range of 30-50%. Honestly, I didn't like it at all; the value of a bottle shouldn't change depending on the service, and in fact, those consumed in the restaurant, since they also accompany the dishes, should perhaps be more affordable. The grappa selection is unsatisfactory. The place is quite small, well-kept and organized, with limited seating. Very quiet, with industrial-style decor: neither the selection of dishes nor the chosen furnishings make me their ideal customer; I prefer more traditional options. The service is informal, friendly, and pleasant, but considerably slow given the number and type of dishes served. Overall a positive opinion, but considering the amount spent I can't be completely satisfied.

It's a home restaurant, so you'll feel right at home. The location in this small village of Gittana is limited, but the service is Michelin-starred. Refined dishes and impressive presentation. Highly recommended.
