After nearly a week in Italy, we were craving South Indian food and turned to Saravanaa Bhavan, a name we usually trust. We arrived late and without a reservation, but the staff was gracious enough to seat us. While the Idli was fine, the Uttapam was disappointing—it felt "machine-made," possibly using frozen batter and vegetables. Even more surprising for a city like Rome, which is known for fresh ingredients, the chutneys didn't live up to the standard of other Saravanaa locations worldwide. Great location near Rome Termini, but the food quality needs to be more consistent with the brand's reputation. Also the way to bathroom was too dirty :|

Best Indian food in Rome. Everything was perfect. It's completely vegetarian, but you won't even miss meat when the food is this great. Thin-crust Dosa is just 😋 They also have this mixed paratha. It's like Sri Lankan kottu and was great. It pairs well with Paneer Butter Masala. Definitely buy Baingan Bharta. You can just eat that and paneer butter masala with white rice; even that's enough. So tasty. Uthappam was very tasty. It's like those in Sri Lanka. All side dishes are top-notch. As a Sri Lankan with a South Asian palate living in Italy, this restaurant is a literal gem. And the service is incredibly fast. We just placed our order on the mobile, and the food came right away. I'm so satisfied with the value for money. For 5 people. Bill was 137 Euros. It may be expensive compared to other Indian restaurants in Rome, but no one comes close to the taste of their food.

04/01/2026: We decided to celebrate New Year's Eve at this restaurant. An elegant, refined restaurant with a seaside theme, in the center of Nettuno. The owners are kind and attentive. The cuisine is based on fresh fish—I dare say, very fresh—with sophisticated, high-quality flavors, delicious raw fish, and good service. The price was reasonable for December 31st and the quality of the food. The only flaw was not a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to toast together at midnight on New Year's Eve... a loss of style 🥲
09/09/2025: The food was perceived as overpriced compared to what we had at other restaurants in Nettuno, both in terms of taste and execution. Some dishes on the menu could not be ordered as they were out of stock. Now we were there at the end of the season, on a Monday so maybe different in the middle of summer. Solid wine list, if you want to buy a bottle but only one type if you want to buy by the glass. The waiter was very nice and concerned that the experience would be good and the surroundings were very nice.

18/01/2026: We came here today for a site inspection to celebrate our wedding, and we ended up staying for lunch anyway. The atmosphere is welcoming and homey, and Stefania is energetic and easygoing! The portions are just right and the dishes are delicious. A little restaurant that makes you feel at home ☀️🥰
12/10/2025: Beautiful setting and ample parking, but the portions and maintenance of the grounds could be improved. ​Il Castellaccio is a location that offers undeniable logistical advantages. The very large parking lot is an exceptional strength, making access extremely convenient. Furthermore, the service was attentive and professional. ​However, the rating is limited to 4 stars due to some critical issues. First, the grounds, although extensive, needed greater care and attention in the management and pruning of the plants. The small plates left on the ground for "beautification" were a constant hazard for children who are very distracted while playing. ​The second aspect concerns the culinary experience: while the quality was good as always, we noticed that the portions of the dishes were not particularly generous. This left us feeling dissatisfied, as we had hoped for greater generosity. The flavors (in my experience) were just right. In short, the facility has great potential, highlighted by the service and convenient parking. To reach a higher level, greater effort is needed in exterior aesthetic maintenance and, above all, a better balance between the quality and quantity of the dishes served. This is my opinion.
