Sarap In Roma

Intrigued by the excellent reviews, I decided to try this small and cozy Filipino restaurant before the cinema for a quick dinner. The atmosphere is simple and spartan, frequented mostly by Filipino customers, and this in itself seemed like a good sign of authenticity. I was pleasantly surprised: the dishes were delicious in their simplicity, rich in flavor, and served in generous portions. It quickly became one of my favorite places in the Prati area, thanks in part to the friendly service and the truly competitive price/quality ratio: on average, €10-15 per person for a main course, accompanied by white rice and a beverage of your choice.

Generous servings that truly satisfied our cravings! We ordered Dinuguan, Bicol Express, Siomai, and Halo-Halo, all delicious and filling. The unlimited soup was a nice bonus, and the staff were friendly and very accommodating.

Disclaimer: Filipino food is VERY DIFFERENT from EAST ASIA, so for those unfamiliar with it, the first impression is certainly very strong. We Filipinos love GARLIC, so it's no surprise that this place serves SINAGNAG, which is white rice with toasted garlic. I've known this place for a long time. Back then, they were located in the Cornelia area. I've watched it grow and I'm really happy for Diego and Benford, the owners, who I hardly see anymore. Let's remember that it's a self-service restaurant. Honestly, the quality of the food is good. Obviously, everything is very subjective, especially for Filipinos, who each cook their own way. However, I believe this place is a go-to place for many of my compatriots. On my last visit, I had a very rich Halo-halo, a small grated cheesecake with other sweet ingredients. I find the siomai quality a bit poor. I liked the ones they served back then, smaller but bouncy. To my disappointment, they don't even make palabok anymore. In short, a lot has changed, they've expanded, but I know the history of the place, so I can't give it a negative review. Before venturing into this place, especially for Italians, please LEARN ABOUT FILIPINO CULTURE.

Worth it. The food was delicious. The SINIGANG, just the soup, was perfect. PAKBET, FRIED FISH with thorn and LECHONG KAWALI. Hubby said the rice was also delicious. We were so full that we couldn't handle the halo halo anymore. The staff were so kind. The best service.

Me and my wife were craving food that wasn’t Italian. And my wife wanted something that tasted like home and while we were walking out of the Vatican we saw this restaurant on the corner and took a shot. The food was top tier and reminded me of our food at home. The people and staff were very welcoming which was a good change from the Italian customer service we are used too.

If you find yourself craving some home cooked Filipino comfort food then go to Sarap! The lechon kawali and pancit were cooked just like how my Lola would cook it. Don’t forget to add halo halo to satisfy your sweet tooth and to cool you off after a trip to the Vatican. The staff were so sweet and welcoming and made me feel at home.

We were on vacation from abroad and really missed Filipino food, so we gave this place a try—and we're so glad we did. The dinuguan, sisig, and buko pandan were all tasty and comforting. The Filipino staff were warm and friendly, which made it feel a bit like home.
