We stopped at San Calo by sheer chance after having been driving around a while looking for somewhere to eat. Calogero, or Gero as he introduces himself, and his wife were a delight. Kind and good souls whose goodness is matched only by the gorgeous food they put on offer.
Gero welcomed a large group of us at an otherwise calm time of the day and was not only happy to serve us some "tavolo calda" items that were beautifully displayed in his counter but also offered to switch his pizza oven on and make us any pizza we liked. We ordered one margherita and let him surprise us with another three. Everything was a delight! Genuine food; a true Sicilian experience.
A definite must!
