Roffel In Macugnaga

We went for lunch in December. Everything good except the dessert!! We got the strudel. They served it to us cold.!!! A piece in the middle of the. Plate with nothing. Horrible! It should be served with ice cream or cream... don't take it!! 😱

Mediocre food, the polenta was clearly instant. Fortunately, the meat was tender. Average service, prices certainly high compared to the quality. We didn't have a bad meal but I wouldn't go back.

We dined at this restaurant because all the others in the area were full. We weren't thrilled with the reviews but we didn't have a bad meal anyway. We took chestnut flour gnocchi (€12), polenta with cheeses (€10), polenta with braised meat (€18) with a side dish of vegetables (€5). For dessert, slices of walnut and apple cake (€5). The gnocchi were not very tasty and the polenta seemed to us to be instant. Only the meat seemed to us to be of high quality. The pizza personally didn't inspire us much, even though from the outside you can see the chef preparing them. The location of the downstairs room is not the best, the room on the ground floor is certainly more beautiful.

Ci è stato consigliato e abbiamo prenotato per la cena. Il Ristorante è molto carino. Posizione centro di Macugnaga,buona cucina con piatti tipici . Abbiamo mangiato molto bene.

We dined here almost every night during our stay in Macugnaga. Central and very comfortable location. The pizza (easily digestible), the shin (which they only make on weekends) and the apple strudel are excellent. A special thank you goes to the waitresses, always very kind and helpful, even with our one and a half year old daughter 💛

I had read really scary reviews, but the experience wasn't that bad. Very friendly staff, very fast service. Simple and good food, maybe not 5 star, but I think we will return when we are in the area!

We went to this restaurant exactly 5 days ago. Four adults and three little girls. We have always had lunch at the Cima Jazzi hotel restaurant but that day there was no room and a person we know told us to try going here. I admit that we were a little late in the sense that it was already 1.15pm when we arrived to ask if there was that place and that we hadn't booked. We are greeted by a waitress who is very uninterested in whether we are there or not, in fact perhaps we even spited her by asking if they had room but this matters little to us. He told us: read the menu at the entrance. If you like it, I'll prepare the table for you, otherwise goodbye, I would have left immediately but the girls were hungry. And we stopped.... he practically threw the menus on the table.. The other mother took two little girls to the bathroom, not even having time for all of us to sit down and came to take the reservation. Needless to say, we hadn't chosen yet. This was the cause of snorts and murmurs to ourselves.... But oh well... Once the other mother returned, in no time we chose what to eat. The girl comes to take the lead... Out of the 5 first courses the three we had chosen were not there, out of the 4 second courses the two we had chosen were not there. To which the other girl's husband asks, a little impatiently, to tell us what's wrong... so we don't waste any more time. We end up ordering all the same pasta and 1 plate of chestnut gnocchi and fondue. 2 mixed platter appetizers and a veal with tuna sauce... given that mixed grill is present on the menu, we asked for the youngest child if it was possible to have a small steak obviously paying for it... The answer was no... After a while the first starters.. we took the two platters and the veal with tuna sauce so we could share it... Too bad that not even one person could eat from one platter.. for the modest sum of €16. As for the vitello with tuna sauce, they were exactly one slice each. The veal with tuna sauce is very good, the cured meats are normal. The moment the pasta arrives, we don't know whether to laugh or cry... Because grabbing a pen with a fork raises a lump of the entire bowl.... I want to point out that it's not the first time we've taken this pasta, because yes we are tourists but we have a house in that area and we know that typical dish well. The fact is that apart from the two men (who eat everything like pigs 😅) there are 3 almost entire terrines left there. The fondue gnocchi obviously have the creamy image we had... Instead they are a mass of gnocchi with a melted cheese pour on top which glues everything together even more. We ask for desserts and only the strudel or the apple pie remained.... My partner took the strudel and said it was very good. Two coffees. In all of this I forgot to say that we kindly asked if it was possible to have a high chair for the little girl, a possibility denied as both were already used by another family at the table. When they got up we took it and were scolded. Once at the checkout the girl made two separate accounts dividing the total in half, which was fine for us, €81 per family. Obviously they didn't even climb the euro given the shortcomings and the lack of education at least that... The fact is that even to pay we had to call her because they were all outside chatting happily without deigning us who were inside waiting for at least five minutes to pay. I'm sorry because it's in a great location and it looked like a great restaurant but as far as we're concerned we will never go back and we won't recommend anyone to go there.
