We had a very good meal. I recommend the pan-fried tuna; it was succulent, and I can't find the words to describe the pistachio parfait. The servers speak English and are friendly and welcoming. In short, we highly recommend this establishment.

The La Matrice restaurant overlooks Piazza Duomo, right in front of the beautiful facade of the mother church. Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed and seated at a table for two, quite comfortable and at the right distance from other tables, despite the room not being particularly large. The interior decor is minimal but refined, and the open kitchen gives the atmosphere of the place that touch of informality without being invasive in noise or smells. Upon request we opened the dinner with bread and oil. I appreciated the fact that we were served oil in a sealed 250ml bottle of a blend of local cultivars (Nocellara del Belice, Biancolilla, Cerasuola). The menu, which presents a proposal of mainly fish-based dishes, is clear and concise with a correct number of varieties of dishes. As an appetizer I chose a seared red mullet with creamed mozzarella, dried tomato, basil oil. Very beautiful plating to look at with a nice play of colors. The good taste, not particularly complex but pleasant, with the dried tomato that gives the note of savoury, the mozzarella the right fatness and the basil oil the fresh note (I would suggest concentrating it a little more with the basil because it has a slightly weak tone) to a fragrant and fresh red mullet already in itself. Successful dish. As a second course I chose the Mackerel with vegetable tabule and basil oil. Simple dish in the plating, direct and decisive taste of the mackerel (a fish not easy to propose in a restaurant menu) well balanced, not at all stringy and well present in quantity. The interesting aspect concerns the texture of the dish, in fact the combination with the granules of tabule gives a nice tactile sensation in the mouth. Very satisfying. Last but not least the dessert. I chose the cannolo after being reassured about the not high quantity of sugar present in the ricotta. Excellent choice due to the somewhat rough processing of the ricotta, with a pleasant and balanced taste. The only note to report, but this is unfortunately a widespread custom, the wafer a little overcooked. For the rest ok. The note of merit to also give to the service (all waiters provided with aprons) polite, fast, attentive. Excellent value for money, a restaurant that I would recommend.

We had dinner there with a large family during the holidays. We found the food excellent, the pasta aldente delicious, the meat and octopus perfectly cooked. We had booked outside and finally at the last minute requested a change to inside which was organized without any problems, and the meal service was very fast. Good value for money. I went to the “La matrix 2.0” restaurant and the experience was simply exceptional. The environment is elegant but welcoming, with soft lights that create a perfect atmosphere both for a romantic dinner and for an evening with friends.
