In a romantic scenery, Hotel San Gerolamo offers a warm place for a lovely weekend with a view to the lake. A clean room, a delicious breakfast and the happy owners made our stay a wonderful memory.

Family hotel..very warm welcome with charming people. Room with a view of the lake and the castle, very clean with very good bedding. You will be welcomed at the family restaurant which is located opposite the hotel. An excellent varied menu, quality wines and good value for money. The staff will take care of you. The place is ideal for discovering the lake and its surroundings.

Nice welcome despite our delay. Very pleasant hotel. Spacious and quiet room, large comfortable bed. Simple but very clean bathroom. Buffet breakfast with choice. Helpful staff ready to help or give good advice. The narrow alley to get there did not discourage us, especially as there was parking to park the car at the hotel doors. From this car park, a nice walk to go to the chapel. From up there, magnificent view of the lake and sunset if you arrive at the right time.

We stayed at the Hotel San Gerolamo for 4 nights at the beginning of September 2024. The room was quiet and clean, as was the bathroom. We particularly liked the family atmosphere; we were always greeted in a friendly manner. The breakfast was lovingly prepared, there was fruit, bread and various sweet dishes, a selection of cheese and sausages as well as two great coffee machines. There was also a selection of juices and water. Parking is directly in front of the hotel, but we recommend parking at the church due to the narrow street. This is possible free of charge. You can easily reach the hotel in just a few meters. We felt right at home and can recommend the small hotel 100%.

02/01/2025: Tuvimos un pequeño aperitivo y café aquí antes de hacer el camino Wayfayer a Bellano. El servicio era bueno y amable y está en una gran ubicación en frente del lago Varennas. Los pasteles que comimos eran sabrosos, pero fue decepcionado por el café decepcionante. Era un domingo por la tarde cuando visitamos y el menú era un poco limitado cuando visitamos. Con retrospectiva deberíamos haber tomado un jugo o algo así. No somos esnobs de café pero hemos tenido muchos una taza de Instant que era mejor que los que teníamos aquí.
08/11/2024: I recently dined at Lido di Varenna - Olivedo Lido in Varenna, and it was truly a fantastic experience! This spot combines a stunning lakeside view with delicious, authentic Italian food. The pizza I ordered was perfectly baked, with a crispy crust and flavorful toppings that really hit the spot. Pairing it with a local draft beer was the ideal choice – the beer was refreshing, and it complemented the pizza so well. The ambiance here is incredibly relaxing, with a casual vibe that makes it easy to unwind by the water. David, a staff member, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely helpful, adding to the overall warmth of the place. If you’re in Varenna and looking for a great place to enjoy pizza with a local touch, Lido di Varenna is definitely worth a visit! Highly recommended!

09/02/2025: It's a nice place, but with prices a little high compared to what's on offer. I appreciate the possibility of having gluten-free first and second courses, as well as burgers, which makes it a good option for those with different dietary needs. The cuisine has a Spanish imprint, but the menu also includes other dishes, so there is a good variety. Overall, a positive experience, but it didn't completely convince me in relation to the price.
01/02/2025: We had the pleasure of having lunch in this restaurant located in a splendid position on the lake. The atmosphere is welcoming and elegant. The food was excellent: well presented dishes, quality ingredients and balanced flavours. The service was friendly and professional. The price is above average.
