Ristorante Margherita In Vallerotonda

We went on August 15th, very good food, due to the huge turnout, the service wasn't the best.

I came across this restaurant for a "makeshift" lunch during a motorbike ride that went a little too long with the schedule. I decided to dampen my appetite by starting with simple bruschetta with oil and tomato: the very kind lady owner, alongside the bruschetta, also brought me a piece of fresh local ricotta and a few slices of homemade seasoned black pork sausage: two treats with an unrivaled taste that literally made me feel like a child again for a few moments. To follow I asked for a beef steak and a grilled sausage with a portion of sautéed turnip tops. The meat was perfect, tender and cooked just right as was the sausage. Then the turnip tops (spectacular, a rarity in Lazio compared to the usual and obvious chicory) gave the right grace to the already unsurpassed meat. A pleasant local red accompanied everything in harmony and an excellent final coffee put the finishing touches to a truly unexpected lunch. The family management of the business can be felt immediately and in everything, for the kind ways in which you are welcomed and served, but also for that healthy and genuine simplicity that characterizes the cuisine of this restaurant. A negative vote, I hope for encouragement, I want to give to the locals: probably since it was born the restaurant has never experienced a renovation or restyling, which are now necessary if we want to make the most of the good qualities of cuisine and service that I found. I will certainly return to Margherita, perhaps with more calm, to be able to once again rediscover the irreplaceable taste of simplicity at the table.

Family-run restaurant with typical home-made cuisine. Abundant dishes rich in old-fashioned seasoning. The landlady and the waiters were all very kind. Average prices.
