A fantastic place where there is no shortage of hospitality, courtesy, helpfulness, kindness and above all good food.
The owner was waiting for us in the parking lot, a character from other times and other values, who welcomed us by introducing us and shaking our hands.
We enter, the place is strange, unconventional, we look around and see ourselves surrounded by tables set with glasses, plates and cutlery from times gone by. Not one chair or table is the same as another.
Blankets, rocking horses, vintage photos.
It feels like entering the home of a distant relative, who lives in his own world, far from formal concepts devoid of substance and who totally cares about what common society demands. From the moment we entered, it was clear that "you are in my house, I'll tell you the rules, don't worry, you'll be fine... if you don't like it, that's the door". Not that this sentence has ever been uttered, but from the characteristics of the place this is the message that came to me, loud and clear!
A place for real people, sincere like good wine, the wine of the past, the one that was free of sulphites.
“I ask you, please, but don't you want water?” - ok, it's official, I love this man!
There are 4 of us at the table and, with the exception of a gentleman who gets up, thanks and leaves, we are the only ones in the restaurant. Let me start by saying, it was Thursday for lunch and the place is not along the main roads but a bit on the hill.
It may have been for this reason, but his presence at the table was constant, pleasant, non-invasive and fun.
He introduced himself with a couple of welcome samples while listing the available dishes, no menu.
We took 2 tagliolini with white truffle (highly recommended), a cheese crepe and a plate of something that looked like Piceno ravioli with mushrooms.
She arrives at the table with the pans and serves us the dishes prepared by the queen of the kitchen without mistakes, with simplicity and ease.
The tagliolini are handmade, cooked in truffle-flavoured butter and with a shower of freshly grated flakes of white truffle. Not happy, after the second forkful he repeats with a prized black truffle. Exceptional aromas and flavors.
We wanted to stop, but he comes out of the kitchen with a large pot of rooster legs in Putacchio: it's impossible not to take advantage of it.
I hear a “It's good! It's good!”. It came from my table companion who had just bitten into it.
Once the second course is finished he gives us the list of desserts, we stop at the first one which says: chocolate salami. Bring a whole salami, a knife and 4 napkins to the table. He gives us one each and starts slicing and handing us the slices by placing them on the napkin, then he goes back to the kitchen and returns to the table with a container full of chilli peppers in alcohol and placed in the freezer. He cuts it and gives us a piece each: “eat and then the slice”. We obey… A pleasure!
In the meantime, continue slicing and offering us the salami...
Then he goes away and comes back with the chilli liqueur and some micro-glasses... "drink and then the slice".
Fantastic!
We got up, said thank you, went into the kitchen to congratulate the queen who welcomed us with a big smile and we said goodbye.
The price for lunch was irrelevant compared to how we were. Every time I return to the Chiaravalle area it will be a fixed stop, we have found a paradise.
I apologize in advance for the small size of the photo but we were all too busy enjoying lunch to waste time taking photographs...
