Ristorante La Fortezza In Assisi

The restaurant is tucked away, but easy to find. It's charming and has been expertly renovated to preserve its ancient features. The welcome and service were excellent, fast and friendly. From appetizers to desserts, everything was top-notch. They even let us try the extra virgin olive oil from the Il Melograno farm on our bread—a truly excellent start! I absolutely have to highlight the excellent grilled chicken, the baked potatoes, and the baked onions. Everything was cooked to perfection and had an unforgettable flavor. High-quality ingredients! The desserts are excellent. And to finish on a high note, the house amaro, kindly offered by the owner. It's not at all touristy, which was my fear. RECOMMENDED!!

For Koreans who haven't visited Italy before, this is a restaurant catering to locals, not tourists. It's located up the stairs in an alley near a square with a fountain. The only downside is that the stairs might be a bit difficult for those with mobility issues. I'm not sure if my husband is Italian, so I'm used to salty food, but I've seen some reviews complaining about the saltiness, but for me, it wasn't salty at all and was delicious. This was the best salad I've had throughout my travels in Italy, and the meats were, without a doubt, delicious. The price is incredibly reasonable for the quality of the food, the space is spacious and clean, and the service is excellent. This is a must-visit restaurant when you're in Assisi. Be sure to try the salad. It's fresh, and you can mix it up with a little salt, pepper, olive oil, and Venegal sauce. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, I've attached a photo so you can see what I mean. I had the mixed pork steak, and my husband had the beef steak, and both were excellent. The quality is top-notch. In Italy, they usually offer coffee after you're finished eating at a restaurant. Restaurant coffees tend to be lackluster, but this one was truly delicious. Adding the sugar that comes with your espresso makes it a perfect after-dinner treat. You can pay for your meal by standing up and approaching the waiter. The total bill came to around 71 euros, which is a good value for the quality.

A restaurant practically in the center that pays homage to the embers. Deliciously cooked meat, a true delight. The ember-grilled potatoes are excellent, and a joy to eat. The summer salad is also very good, according to my wife: the best in Assisi. This restaurant isn't for tourists, it's a joy. €71 for two, including two soft drinks, one water, and two coffees. Highly recommended!

Very nice and welcoming restaurant, attentive and kind staff, very good food, excellent service

We had lunch here this Sunday. I have to say, perhaps influenced by the many positive reviews, I expected more, especially from the entrees. We had the fried meatballs, which I liked, but the carbonara and the tagliatelle with wild boar ragù disappointed me. I found the former too rich—perhaps the eggs were undercooked? And too cheesy. The tagliatelle, on the other hand, were a bit dry, and lacked the "cream" that would have made them moister. The portions were very generous. I'm giving it an extra star as an encouragement.

A very charming and quaint restaurant. Impeccable service: attentive, professional, and friendly. Excellent and plentiful dishes, undoubtedly made with quality ingredients. Excellent meat, both grilled and ungrilled. The wine list is interesting. Prices are generally high, but especially in proportion to the location and the products offered. Unfortunately, I can't give it 5 stars because they overdid the salt in almost all the dishes (which were already flavorful), and the upstairs dining room is too warm, while the downstairs dining room is a bit cold.

Had a nice lunch here..a block or 2 off of the main tourist street. Vermentino from Sardegna @ 19eu was a good choice. Also tagliatelle with white Raghu of cingale

Really nice restaurant, with a great ambient and amazing food. The service was extremely efficient and always smiling.

We were skeptical of finding the usual tourist restaurant, but instead, it was a beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, made with local ingredients, and more than generous portions. An excellent experience, and if we were to return to Assisi, we would definitely return.
