Recommended by relatives who live in the area, simple, family-run, clean restaurant, with ALL the food "homemade", run by a local family, fast and kind service by the young Alessia and a very courteous lady ... with free encores and even trios of their most famous specialty, the POLENTA CONCIA di OROPA (with lots of local toma cheese and butter, melted in the soft polenta ... see attached photos and videos).
But there are many good dishes to choose from on the menu and for all tastes...with very honest prices...accompanied by a good red wine, Barbera or Dolcetto or a good craft beer of 0.75 L...I recommend "La Blanche"...I think it's called "Luise"...in any case you can't go wrong...clear, fresh, light and full-bodied, like the renowned German Weiss and Belgian or Dutch Wit...and with only a little alcohol 4.5°...for those who then have to drive...
I attach some photos of the dishes tasted...they speak for themselves to understand the goodness and quality of the raw materials used.
Total expense paid for 4 people with 1 appetizer + 4 first courses (with polenta bis) + 1 second course + 4 desserts + 3 glasses of red wine + 1 75cl beer = €112.......for me excellent value for money
Just one additional tip, if you go on Saturday, Sunday or holidays...BOOK!!....because many people know it....and ENJOY YOUR MEAL!!

The great heat of these first days of summer brings us once again to Oropa at 1200 meters above Biella. Here, strange but true, some restaurants in the area surrounding the sanctuary of the Black Madonna have not yet been investigated by Watson and I. One of these is La Fornace, located near the cable car station. It is one of the oldest restaurants and bars in Oropa and certainly the largest. Despite this, the heat brought crowds of holidaymakers and weekend tourists and so, the entire restaurant was sold out and therefore, despite having booked the day before, our table ended up, along with others, in the bar area, right against the counter! Apart from this, we were welcomed in a hasty but familiar way and in a short time we were able to order. Among the choices, a tasting menu for € 30 truly inviting, but too "full-bodied" for such a hot day. We therefore decided on the à la carte menu which nevertheless includes all typical Alpine dishes. We then order: polenta concia d'Oropa for me and agnolotti for Watson; for the second course we both opt for the Dolcetto stew with polenta: the stew and polenta concia are excellent (with generous doses), the agnolotti are a little less convincing. We finish with a sorbet for me and a bonet for Watson. With a coffee, 1.5 liters of mineral water and a bottle of Lacrima di Morro d’Alba Podere Santa Lucia 2023 we spent €78 for two. The service is basic, but the staff treats you like family. For a tasty and reasonably priced informal lunch or dinner it is ideal.

I had a great time, very welcoming atmosphere, service by the kind and courteous Sebastiano. I ordered a mixed appetizer brought immediately with a smile, exquisite polenta and for dessert a good brunette. I will definitely return, excellent service and food only flaw clogged bathroom.

From the heat of the plain, we went to Oropa to stay a bit in the cool air, we had dinner at Fornace, a wonderful discovery, excellent service, really good food, I mention the 10 stew, a greeting to our waiter Mohamed, really nice and good

Eravamo una tavolata di 16 persone. Chi ha preso il menù degustazione, chi ha preso l’antipasto tipico, ma poi tutti hanno preso Sua Maestà Polenta concia, davvero deliziosa e ben fatta, grassa al punto giusto, forse leggermente insipida ( ma basta aggiungere il sale). Siamo stati bene, camerieri veloci e cortesi. Ambiente molto affollato e inevitabilmente rumoroso, al limite del fastidioso. Per parlare fra noi commensali era necessario urlare. Forse i tavoli troppo addossati hanno enfatizzato questo problema. Conto onesto, anche se in cassa non brillano per velocità e snellezza nei pagamenti. Comunque ci tornerò perché ho mangiato bene.

Locale tipico di montagna, caldo e accogliente. Tante le pietanze che si possono gustare: taglieri , paste e secondi. Io consiglio la polenta concia buona e abbondante (ripassano se ne desideri ancora) servizio di sala veloce.
