Ristorante Damario In Lecce

I tried three restaurants in Lecce, and this one, though not in the old town, was the most satisfying and affordable. Although it was all home-style cooking, every dish was delicious. The bread served was similar to pizza crust, which became sweeter and sweeter with each chew. The portions were so large that I had to skip the appetizers. Highly recommended!

Trattoria 2.0, behind a slightly vintage and not overly Salento-inspired facade (once you sit inside, you'll realize you could be anywhere) lies a cuisine featuring traditional and less local dishes, all sharing a masterful pursuit of flavor and a sense of authenticity. The plating is simple but pleasing, and the portions are generous. The staff, from the owner (a truly charming person with international experience and a subtly eclectic taste who explains a lot about the restaurant and the menu) to the waitress, were extremely kind, a watchful yet discreet presence that perfectly complemented our dinner. The owner even stopped to play with the two children at the table on a couple of occasions, engaging them with animal drawings and amusing jokes. The quality/price ratio was also excellent; we dined for six (4 adults and 2 children) for a total of €132, including two 0.66 Morettis, four desserts, and two whiskies; So, without too many indulgences, you can easily eat and be satisfied for €25-30 per person. In conclusion, for the quality, prices, and kindness of the staff, I would recommend this place.

Very good dishes, fair prices, helpful service. There's also a good pizza nearby.

Menu is a bit limited but the selections are a bit different than the usual simply local choices. The restaurant shares owner and location with a pizzeria next door. So the kids can get a pizza while you can get an alternative. The owner, Mario, is personable and speaks pretty fair English.

If I could give more stars it would happen. As Mario “the owner” (what I realised later) told me, this place is special, I instantly felt like at home or member of his family. I found this place on maps and pictures are nothing compare to food taste. Customer service is another level. If I tell you that i was going late for a train and Mario didnt hesitate for a second to take me directly with his car, maybe you wont believe, but yeah this is kind of hospitality you can feel there. Excellent quality. Truly wonderful. I hope to return. Perhaps the aesthetics could use a bit of a makeover, because I admit that when I arrived I wanted to run away. Clean, but not very well maintained, especially considering the quality of the food and service.

Wonderful evening sitting outside at this local trattoria, just a few minutes walk from the old centre of Lecce. Very busy on a warm evening in late September. Perfect aubergine parmigiana, delicious bread, and the best cappriciosa pizza I have ever had. Half a litre of fruity house red was 5 Euros. Total bill for 2 starters, 2 pizzas, a local beer and the wine was 53 Euros. Delightful friendly staff too. Unimprovable!
