Wonderful evening sitting outside at this local trattoria, just a few minutes walk from the old centre of Lecce. Very busy on a warm evening in late September. Perfect aubergine parmigiana, delicious bread, and the best cappriciosa pizza I have ever had. Half a litre of fruity house red was 5 Euros. Total bill for 2 starters, 2 pizzas, a local beer and the wine was 53 Euros. Delightful friendly staff too. Unimprovable!

Outside the historic center of Lecce (just a ten-minute walk to work up an appetite), Trattoria San Lazzaro offers a memorable starter: fried artichokes with pecorino cream. This starter alone is worth a visit, but it doesn't detract from the rest of the equally delicious menu.
For a little peace and quiet outside the historic center after a day of sightseeing, while still enjoying a delicious meal, this is the perfect place to go!
