Idyllically located restaurant that is part of a hotel. We didn't stay at the hotel, we just enjoyed dinner there. The reservation was made on the same day and we were told that unfortunately only one indoor table was available. When we arrived at the restaurant at the agreed time, we still got a nice spot outside. Unfortunately, we had to realize that hotel guests were allowed to sit in a more comfortable and nicer area. We didn't like that so much, but our place was by no means "bad". We were warmly welcomed and served in a very friendly and attentive manner throughout the evening. In fact, we have rarely enjoyed such good service on Elba. 👍 The starter (Mixed Sea Plate warm & cold) was very filling and absolutely inexpensive. The taste was also very tasty and everything was freshly prepared in my opinion. The main courses (tuna steak or mixed fish platter) were also good, but were not as convincing as the starter. The tuna was very tender and flavorful, a little too salty. On the fish platter there was, among other things, a salmon steak, which was probably frozen and unfortunately a bit dry or too firm to the bite. Side dishes (fries and grilled vegetables) tasted very good. In terms of price, the starter was particularly impressive, the main courses were overpriced in comparison - something could be improved. Aperol Spritz were also very tasty and reasonably priced. Unfortunately we weren't hungry enough for dessert, but it sounded very promising. During our visit, 3 small kittens made the area around the tables unsafe and were unfortunately also fed at the table by many guests - this should at least be addressed by the hotel operators and subsequently stopped. This is not doing the animals any good. 🐈 All in all, the evening was very successful and we can definitely recommend the restaurant. It is also worth making a reservation on “theFork”, where there are said to be -20% discounts.

Dinner in August the place has a very nice view. It's a shame for the dishes which are very abundant in quantity but in quality which is below par....it's useless to propose dishes which on paper appear to be rich in flavor if very scarce raw materials are used...example: "clams" in the soup they are Chinese and not Italian (cost of the dish €24...) and other products that are not of quality for a dish that still costs money. The one who survives is Franco, who is very good at serving 15 tables alone, with orders, service and clearing the table... ALONE!!!! maybe there is something to recalibrate.....

Every time we come to the island of Elba, we cannot miss a stop at Sauro! Always excellent and high quality food, very friendly staff and a particular location with a very welcoming atmosphere.
