Very atmospheric place! Located in a wonderful location in Livorno on the slopes of Montenero. The food is very cool, the service is excellent!!! Real Italian pasta, seafood!

Good food, friendly staff Prices normal The outdoor terrace is nice for eating but the interior and the bathrooms definitely need to be renovated

Orlandi Albergo Ristorante Montallegro

11/06/2024: We were on a hop-on-hop-off bus. The driver said,”Funicular,” and we got off. We had no idea what was at the top of the mountain. Lunch at Montallegro was the Italian experience we were hoping for. Only three other tables of diners there. The food was wonderful, and our waitress was a delight. She spoke no English and we spoke no Italian. There was lots of sign language and we just loved it! We lingered so long we missed our bus back, but that’s another story. This was a highlight of a two-week trip.

Ristorante La Tavernetta

07/08/2024: Here it is as it should be in Italy! Ambiance and food were great, service was a little rough as usual with tourists. Accessible only on foot or two-wheeler, parking spaces are distributed around the old town, up to 10 minutes to walk. Not very interesting for children. Don't understand the recent recessions.
20/07/2024: Very cozy place at the center of the village. Service has been a bit overwhelmed by the crowd, but I can only speak for a saturday evening. Pizza had been okay but nothing special. Gnocchi had been good. The mixed salad had been very basic, it is just nothing you should order in Tuscany.
