Lovely stay on the first night of the Alta Via 1. Rooms were comfortable, modern, and spotless. The restaurant was delicious (especially the tiramisu which was the best of the trip). Definitely on the bougier end of the rigufios we stayed in on our 7 day trek. Grazie mille!

The condiment choice of mayo and ketchup with the ham and cheese toast was ill advised. Mustard is a must. Nice view from the patio though.

Best food we had on the AV1. Spring water outside the refugio. Amazing location and beautiful place for a stay. There is bus service here and it is a popular spot for day trippers. Nice staff and nice rooms.

Pederu was one of our favorite rifugios on the Alta Via 1 trek! The food was very good, particularly the schnitzel. The location is a mountain oasis with an open field, children happily playing, and general bliss. Stay here!

This is a busy refugio for sure, given it is reachable by bus. However, I still had a delightful time on my Alta Via trek! The rooms are clean and comfortable, with outstanding views. Staff was friendly and food was excellent. Highly recommend. Felt safe as a solo female trekker.

Excellent location, surrounded by beautiful mountains. Our balcony faces a million -dollar view; very impressive. We came in as a group of 4, a couple with 2 friends. The room layout suited us perfectly. There was no half-board option, but the vegetable soup tasted good.

Zuegghütte

15/09/2025: We were there yesterday. There's construction going on. Unfortunately, you won't know what's closed until you go. But I think it'll be great there in the future. More chalets are being built.
04/07/2025: Unfortunately, the Zuegghütte is no longer there!!! 😭 It had to make way for a new restaurant (then called the Zuegghütte again) and three chalets! 😡 For years, it was our obligatory stop on our way down to the valley. The food, staff, and atmosphere were absolutely top-notch! What a shame!!!
