We ate very well, the staff was super friendly, helpful, and accommodating. We relaxed and had a great time after a nice walk.

Highly recommended! You do need a vehicle, but the valley is beautiful for spending a few peaceful days here. The price/performance ratio of the rifugio is worth 6 stars. It's simple, but everything is clean, there's a normal toilet and a squat toilet, and three showers in the shared bathroom that work perfectly. The hospitality of Silvia, Giorgio, Alessandro, and Lucian is unbeatable. Thanks again for being patient with me and my rudimentary Italian :-) English is always fine here, too. If the opportunity arises, I'd love to come back. It's also ideal for motorcyclists. A day trip via Simplon, Furka, and Gotthard, and back over the pass road from Locarno toward Domodossola through the town of Re with its impressive basilica, is strenuous but recommended.

We stopped by by chance on a Sunday at 3:30 PM. Despite the late hour, the kitchen was open, and we were able to choose from the menu. The food was home-cooked and reasonably priced. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The refuge can be reached on foot from the Marmitte dei Giganti and other points along the trail, or by car on the paved road. The terrace offers a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. It was a pleasant discovery.

Sono stato per pranzo, posto bello, tavoli esterni coperti con gazebo ed ombrelloni. Cibo e Servizio così così.......i gestori NON sono italiani ma probabilmente svizzeri o altro e la cucina ne risente. Abbiamo preso 4 antipasti a piccoli taglieri dove c'era: - ottimo assaggio di 3 tipi di formaggi locali diversi - 6/7 fette di salame crudo abbastanza interessante (andrebbe spellato prima) - 2 fette di un impensabile salame cotto tipo wurstel - della pancetta buona, ma tagliata a pezzettini stile "carbonara"....ma anche no - 2 contenitori tipo pannino da caffè con hummus )comprato) e marmellata di mele (buona) - 1 ciotolina tipo caffè con della giardiniera buona Dicoiamo che l' antipasto era ok tranne che per il "simil-wurstel" Poi abbiamo preso: - 2 polenta pasticciata e funghi...la polenta era ok, il formaggio insapore ed i funghi veramente scarsi (champignon) ....la polenta pasticciata è un' altra cosa - 1 polenta con formaggio fuso che era identica a quanto sopra senza funghi - 1 brasato con polenta....il brasato era più simile a un bollito...insapore e duro. Acqua, bibita, vino e caffè abbiamo speso circa 25 euro a testa: non è molto ma non è nemmeno poco visto la qualità di quanto servito. Insomma c'è ancora MOLTO da imparare se si vuole proporre cibo che non sia troppo saporoso di nord-europa.

I can't rate the rooms but if they are like the service and the quality of the meal consumed I would give even more stars. Excellent value for money. Fantastic location. Top hospitality and service. Good quality of food. Pleasant pleasant pleasant experience. I recommend it.
