Top-notch cuisine in a historic setting. The ancient building's captivating setting and fine cuisine make for an unforgettable stay. Our family enjoyed the warm ambience and the professional caring service very much. One highlight for us was the delicious breakfast!!

What a special place! The gourme hotel Ansitz Steinbock in Villanders was basically our home for a few days in beautiful South Tyrol. We had the pleasure of staying in the “Ernst Loesch” suite - a dream home on two levels, with our own sauna in the room. Everything is very stylishly furnished, no savings were made here but the best quality was used. We felt really comfortable and, because the weather wasn't entirely stable, we always retreated to our cozy suite and did private wellness. The house itself is furnished with a lot of love and warmth. Small courtyards or the lounges invite you to linger. The balancing act between tradition and modernity works wonderfully here. Excellently curated furnishings, simple and elegant. The lovely service team led by owner Elisabeth is particularly noteworthy - very attentive, courteous, competent and friendly. The breakfast is wonderful, the buffet is small and manageable but nothing is missing, everything is of the finest quality. Best cappuccino north of Bolzano! In general, the cuisine plays a major role at the Steinbock residence and deserves special praise. One evening we decided on the HP menu (5-course), which was plentiful and tip top. Our gourmet dinner in the Defregger Stube really took it up a notch, which is worth its own review. The wine cellar plays all the pieces. Connoisseurs will also find what they are looking for here and choose from real treasures on the menu carefully put together by sommelier Bastian Winkler. Our stay was perfect all around. The price level is high, but the price-performance ratio is right and the experience of living in this special house and having a good time was more than worth it. We felt so comfortable that we will definitely come back! Definite recommendation for everyone who loves the good life. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful modern rooms with their own private saunas, hidden in a15th century building which oozes classic (medieval) architecture. Food is great, breakfast and dinner are both top notch. The fine dining is fine, but we'd eaten at another place a couple nights before which is imo among the best in the world, so it's a bit of a tough comparison. Service is excellent, super friendly, excellent English and German (and I would guess Italian). We had an amazing, mind-blowing thunderstorm on the last night, thousands of lightning strikes. The owner let us into a spare room with a balcony so we could enjoy the view better. Majestic sight, and first class consideration. 🌩️⛈️⚡🌩️⛈️⚡⛈️🌩️🌩️ Would happily come here again. Oh, and the have a house cat, Mia, who is gorgeous, but a bit shy so non cat ppl don't be concerned. 😻

The service could be a little friendlier, even for the average guest :-), but the location and the presentation are simply incredible, very relaxed.
