The Cathedral is beautiful but, once you go down into the crypt you are left stunned and speechless, where the remains of the apostle Matthew are.

For those like me who don't like it opulence in buildings of worship, I must say that the Duomo certainly left a positive note on me. The Romanesque art with Byzantine Norman infiltrations certainly complete a sight to behold.

Spectacular view, I can admire the whole of Salerno and I can observe the whole Amalfi coast from this high promontory, it's nice that there are similar places in Salerno.

A true jewel in the heart of Salerno, through the lion gate you enter the internal courtyard, embellished with ancient sarcophagi and a beautiful bronze entrance portal. The interior of the church is beautiful, worthy of attention are the apse mosaic and that of the chapel next to it on the right. In the crypt, with notable eighteenth-century decorations, are the remains of the evangelist Matthew. Must visit!
