Small airport, although well maintained. It would need more chairs to be able to wait and a greater range of shops/bars

Compared to the past, there is a lot of automation, so the immigration process is carried out quickly. The duty-free shop has also been renovated and has changed a lot. There is no smoking room.

It has few shops and restaurants, in high season they seem insufficient to me. The toilets were clean when I went.

Had a flight at 6:40am, arrived 2:15 hrs earlier only to find all check-in counters closed. Searching for information on what time the agents start they shift also only lead to frustration, online it says that the counters open at 6am. Lounge is small but cozy, it was empty when we got there but quickly got out of control once people started arriving. Is it raining outside? Bring an umbrella, there are no fancy automated gates to protect you from the elements getting in or out of the plane. You’ll be standing in line and exposed to whatever weather conditions for a while before You can take your seat.

Airport staff all ok. The problem is the companies that lose the suitcases

I found the staff to be friendly and helpful when our flight got cancelled (as seems to be commonplace from what I have learned). I'd say this is a good place to land when you're going to Florence, just make sure you have a day or two to spare for rerouted flights, possibly from other airports, when you go back.

It is one of the most beautiful airports in Italy❤️❤️ I recommend you go there✈️✈️✈️

Small inconvenient and not very functional. They use buses as gas chambers

The customs verification for VAT refund is right across the cafe when you first enter, to the left of the escalators. We arrived at 0455 for our 0630 flight and there was already a long line. We did not get to the front till 0520 so plan accordingly. You need a physical boarding pass or eticket. It goes fast if you have your Global Pass paperwork, passport, receipts and boarding pass all ready in hand. The customs officer will NOT physically stamp your paperwork. It is a digital stamp! You can check via the Global Pass app/website after to confirm refund is pending. The officer will tell you to go to the exchange office but you do not need to if you want to be paid back via card. We processed everything in checked and carry on at this counter then went upstairs to check our bags and then headed towards security without issue.

We read previous reviews making us worry about departing from this airport. Our experience was great, clean airport, clean toilets, space to sit etc. We were travelling in winter which may have made things easier, but over the new year period and Florence itself was very busy.
