Pensione Iolanda In Castelli

After a relatively long search for a restaurant in the area, we finally found Iolanda and were able to easily seat eight people. Due to the intense heat, we only opted for a pasta dish. It was delicious, and we were happy to still be able to get something at 2:30 p.m. The coffee after the meal was served in small cups on a matching ceramic tray, which the owner said she made herself. We were then led into a small exhibition room where we were able to view some of her truly beautiful work. A few of us even bought a souvenir.

Typical cuisine with exclusively hand-made delicacies. Traditional local dishes made with genuine ingredients often available on site served in finely decorated locally produced ceramics. Worth a visit!

Found by chance, at 2.00 pm they set the table outdoors without problems. Great local food.

Genuine food, flavors of other times, there is Peppino born in 1938 with all the restaurant staff who made us feel at home straight away. Decorated plates from the famous ceramics of the Castelli which is obviously a town dedicated to ceramics. Any Castellana delicacy we tasted was very light. Well done 👏👏👏

Mixed starters quite good, but nothing exceptional, the classic cheeses, ham, pancakes, bread and sausage... in short, nothing special. Two first courses: Taccole with voliche (very very good) guitar with pellets (bad, bad, bad) very acidic sauce.😵‍💫 As a second course they brought us some lamb, but I think 1 out of 3 maybe less (for example, I wasn't able to taste it) and some grilled cheese. (Nothing much) House wine, Sweet, although not everyone could choose as the portions of tiramisu were not enough for everyone. 🤷‍♂️ Coffee and Gentian, but not for everyone. Total 43 euros each. Without receipt and without invoice. It seems a little overpriced to me. Come to think of it, it was Friday evening, and only us were present. So this should have made us think..... I will definitely not go back.

Genuine local food, absolutely delicious. A small inn in the center of the beautiful village of Castelli. One of those places where you have to eat if you're in the area. A dear greeting from Assergi.
