There are two of us trying quickly and we choose San Michele, already known to us for its excellent pastries. A portion of lasagne, a mixed dish with roast beef and vegetables, a water, two coffee puffs. Everything good and clean and fast service. Advised.

One of the most renowned pastry shops in the city and with an above average quality level. Ricotta-based creams are always of a high standard, even in summer, and this is surprising in some ways, but in reality it is the result of professional management of dairy products through the cold chain. The flour-based custards are also of an excellent standard and the freshness of the production made possible by the large daily sale is appreciated. It is useless to underline the pleasure of each pastry or baked product: personal taste will dictate the judgement. What matters is that the family management, the cleanliness of the place and the staff, their availability and speed of order processing, the aesthetic perfection of the products, the high quality of the ingredients (creams, chocolate, jams, granolas, waffles) are above the standard of most pastry shops in Palermo. Personally I would place it within the narrow circle of the best five. The secret lies above all in the mastery of the processing and in the dosage of the ingredients, with the main one being sugar, which must never be present in excess, and animal fats which cannot exceed a certain threshold, say 30/35 percent. The San Michele pastry shop certainly deserves a special mention for its effort to do the best possible while staying within a system in which costs are always quite high (staff, raw materials, energy, services, hygiene, taxes).

For the excellent pastries and the professionalism and courtesy of the staff, the tables outside are also comfortable where you can sip an excellent coffee ☕️ accompanied by excellent pastries and reading a good book. The aperitifs are also excellent.

Excellent pastry shop, excellent watermelon tart🍉. The Saint Honer is fantastic and is only made to order, however all the desserts are excellent.
