Absolutely delicious pastries!!! We went without particularly knowing what we were doing but were more than happy with our choices. A must try!!! (although a bit expensive)

We got brioche rolls filled with jam or Nutella for breakfast for 3 mornings while staying nearby. Showing the employees respect and a smile, they were friendly but efficient as they were always busy. Not speaking any italian beyond saying hello and not being familiar with the traditional baked goods, we got by with pointing and the ladies speak enough english. We discovered and enjoyed Pizza Ebraica, a very rustic cookie, filled with nuts, raisins, candied fruit, oil, white wine, flour, almond flour. This little place is authentic and worth a visit.

I went there years ago and the tart was phenomenal, I went back a few days ago and the quality has dropped. They also raised the prices (€5.30 for a slice of tart) and above all when I asked for a smaller portion I was told no. Evidently they prefer to earn more (the price goes by weight) without considering the rudeness they do to the customer and the possible waste of food

Kosher bakery in Rome’s Jewish district, run by the same family since 1815. Nondescript little spot run by two grandmothers (no seating). Lotta hype about it, so we got up early to try it. Surprisingly, all pastries were overcooked & burnt. Tried it anyway and the food was rich, just annoyingly overdone. There’s another bakery immediately next door as well, which was also pretty good.

It is a historic venue in Rome and the neighborhood. I've read complaints about burnt tarts; those who make them don't know Boccione: it's almost a signature of its products and it's an advanced cooking point that is intentional, not due to the pastry chef's inexperience or carelessness. For years Boccione has remained the same, because a product with history and personality has no need to change. Even complaints about service make little sense in light of the tradition of Roman traders, often gruff in their ways, but warm-hearted and hospitable as soon as they know how to look beyond the hasty surface. This oven also has a very respectable civil value, given that it courageously resisted the persecution carried out during the Second World War against the inhabitants of the Ghetto. Go there and approach it with the courtesy and respect you would use for an elderly patriarch, and taste its delights perhaps enjoying the sun and the chatter of the people of the Ghetto, gathered to chat on the benches in front of the school. You will get to know Rome better this way than with a hundred tours of its splendid museums.

The ricotta cake with sour cherries is very good, the one with chocolate is less so. I recommend taking just one slice because it's quite heavy. A little expensive

Avevo sentito parlare della loro crostata di ricotta e visciole e vale davvero la pena anche se, essendo molto conosciuta, ho dovuto fare un quarto d'ora di fila. Vale davvero la pena.
