A great café and pastry shop just steps from the historic walls, Porta Santa Maria, and the start of Via Fillungo. Offering both indoor and outdoor seating, the place serves excellent coffee, bruschetta, salads, and hot dishes, but most importantly, it makes its own pastries and cakes. Friendly staff (the cashier even accepted our note, which had been accidentally torn from the edge, and was very understanding), clean restrooms, and reasonable prices (a glass of sparkling wine and a Campari soda = €5), along with newspapers to read at your leisure—a detail, unfortunately, increasingly rare to find—round out the package: a highly recommended place!

Although both the coffee and the Panini were good, we felt a bit ripped off. They charged us about a euro more for each item, we understand that for the terrace service.

On these very hot August days, I stopped at this bar with my family for a drink during our city tours. The place is located within the city walls near Porta Santa Maria. The interior isn't very spacious, but there are a few tables outside where you can sit and eat or drink. We ordered some milkshakes, which we found to be very good. The prices are average.

Great gluten-free selection of sweet pastries and delicious small pizzas to take away

I went here with my two adult daughters in our recent trip to Lucca. The food was delicious, the service was good and friendly, and the location was great. Afterward, we rented bikes from nearby Poli and biked around the city wall and on top of the wall...it was wonderful! I still have the wish to have another Aragostella!

The coffee was delicious, and so were the pastries. The selection of sweet treats is large. We'll definitely get something there again—but for to-go. The team in the store is super nice. Unfortunately, my children had an unpleasant encounter with a female server. I was in the store to pick out pastries for us, while my kids were outside at one of the tables. The server, a young woman, repeatedly "explained" "table service," while my two children told her in good English that I was in the store. It only stopped when my kids got up. Bottom line: when I left, my children were leaving because they were uncomfortable with the service and the overall situation and wanted to avoid trouble. This was so unnecessary, especially since the team inside very kindly informed me that they had "table service" outside—so they had an example of how to do it right and wrong.

I am gluten free and they had loads of pastry options available. Was so delicious and as a coeliac I didn’t feel stressed or worried eating! Prices of the pastries were good but seems to be an extra 50 cents per item if you sit in and the drinks are quite expensive so maybe more of a take away option…

El personal era muy amable y acogedor, lo que hizo que fuera una buena experiencia. La trenza de chocolate que probé estaba bien, no está mal, pero no es nada especial. ¡Todo lo demás en la vitrina parecía súper tentador! Los precios eran aproximadamente el promedio de la zona. Merece la pena una visita si estás cerca.

Tuvimos la suerte de estar al lado de este pequeño gran café. Seguimos volviendo porque los capuchinos eran tan deliciosos y también los espuntinos. El personal era muy amable y servicial. Nos encanta este lugar!
